I have just finished a meal with my husband at Jacks and it was such a delightful experience that I had to review before I left.
From start to finish I could not fault this restaurant.
Although the price is slightly above average it is well worth it.
The food was delicious. My husband got the mussels to start. The portion could have fed two people and the accompanying sauce was the best I have tasted in a long while!
The main courses did not disappoint and although fish is usually a small portion the dishes came with potatoes and vegetables on the side (at no extra cost). I forgot to mention the selection of bread on the table at the beginning of the meal.
The dessert menu choices were amazing and although I settled with ice cream - this option alone was to die for.
The staff were professional and friendly and all seemed to work flawlessly together.
The pianist playing softly in the background provided an ambient atmosphere for our lovely meal.
We are so glad we came across this off the beaten track seafood restaurant.

Went for a birthday celebration with family as we have been there several occasions before and was highly impressed.
On this occasion the restaurant and location excelled yet again.
Food was served promptly (their soup ando desserts a notable positive) very friendly professional staff. Nice ambiance with spectacular views of the sea
I want to compliment the social measures and PPE gear worn by every staff member which made us feel secure that our experience would not only be a safe but also an enjoyable one.
The only negative on my part was the restaurant manager who, while being professional had an attitude problem and appeared to be more attentive towards women than men which is strange as...believe it or not we do exist as well and can tip (or not) for the required service. It felt like I didn't exist and was being tolerated. Which was disappointing as all the other staff were exceptional.
For the me the restaurant was great but the views from the large windows really make the place special.
Well done again Jacks, we will be back!

We ate here three times during our holiday and each time was as delicious as the last. The creamy chowder was full of mouthwatering fish and was filling with the accompanying homemade breads. The Tiger prawns were cooked in the lightest tempura batter and served with fries and salad and a lovely chilli dressing. The staff were all lovely and helpful and there was plenty of space between tables in line with current regulations. We could not fault anything at Jacks , it's simply a must go to place.

Food was only average, but expensive, service was very good, however when we received the bill we were charged for an extra bottle and glass of wine. When we pointed out the discrepancy they refunded the part they overcharged. For an established restaurant this is unacceptable.

Visited for lunch but the menu seemed a bit too limited (we have dined a few times before and don't remember it being so limited). We booked in for later and the staff were accomodating which was good of them.
However the return visit was unfortunately very disappointing. I ordered the stonebass as I've had seabass before and really enjoyed it. Sadly my dish was not tasty at all and other members of the party agreed. I ended up just eating veg and potatoes which was nice (just a note to say no one asked about allergies and it slipped our minds that one of our party is allergic to brassicas and these were the main sides, good job they couldn't eat them or I would have been getting a take out). They removed the dish from the bill which was fair enough but not before I had a waitress scold me for not mentioning anything, however we didn't have anyone ask while we were eating if the meal was okay and they were so rushed I couldn't catch their attention easily (same story several times), the said staff member they began arguing that someone had been over, however that was during the starter and it took a few strong words before she left our table (extremely unprofessional).
The other dishes of my party were delicious and I was thankful I was offered some.
The dessert I ordered was the frangipane, it was served overdone but following the main I just didn't want to complain again. One of the desserts was missed and we spent 5mins trying to catch someone's attention for it to be brought out when we were finishing.
Coffees were good, the gentleman manager was very good, very professional. I just found the whole experience a real disappointment based on several previous visits. I classed this as a real gem and would bring family for special occasions, such a shame it's missing it's touch.
Lots of good reviews so maybe it was a bad day in the office? When you're paying over 200 though it's not really what you expect.

Location excellent, restaurant clean and social distancing operating.
However, food was poor/average. We all had turbot which was either overcooked or had been cooked from frozen. Definitely not what you'd expect from a seafood restaurant overlooking the sea. The starters were fine but the mains were a big let down.
Their wine suggestion was a 2015 Bordeaux Superieur which was totally overpriced at €40. I'd be amazed if it retailed over a €10 as it was a completely average wine from what was a very good year for Bordeaux.
They need to up their game if we are to ever go back.

Visiting the area, we were aware of some big name local restaurants, but chanced upon this well established seafood restaurant by accident. What a fortuituous find. A really lovely dining experience - a well run floor led by the proprieter and his wife overseeing a well trained and tightly schooled staff, all of whom were exceptionally helpful and pleasant. The food choice was excellent, predominantly seafood but not exclusively so. We had chicken and monkfish main courses, both highly recommended. Vegetables were seasonal, well presented and complimentary to the main dishes. Apparently this restaurant has been operating since 2006 and may be well known locally but perhaps below the radar of more aggressively marketed alternatives in terms of the visitors. Be in no doubt this lovely restaurant punches its weight with any of the alternatives at the top end of local competition. Prices were by no means excessive for the excellent experience - and a special word of praise for the pianist who played discreetly and very pleasantly throughout our visit. A wonderful memory and highly recommended.

We booked a table last Wednesday evening. We were told that Hake and Monkfish weren't available; the last being my favourite. A bad start for a restaurant famous for its fresh fish. We ordered starters, mains, and wine. The cheapest Sauvignon Blanc was nice enough for €28/bottle.
The crab guacamole I ordered didn't taste of much. My friend had the tiger prawns which were from frozen dunked into batter and deepfried and served with the cheapest chilly sauce straight from Aldi. Disgusting. Who deepfries prawns anyway? The vegan hummus was good.
For mains we ordered 2 cod, one wild salmon, and 2 turbot.
The wild salmon was ok but nothing special. The cod was good. The turbot was tasteless and watery, probably from frozen too. I come from a family of fishermen, and do know a bit about fresh fish. This turbot wasn't fresh. The sides of potato gratin and veg were scrummy.
The Irish and French coffees were a watery slush without strength but too much sugar.
The rum and baileys cheesecake was the best I ever had.
We complained about the prawns and turbot to the waitress, who was going to enquiry with the chef. She didn't report back to us, which was more disappointing than the bad food. Bye bye Jacks Coastguard Restaurant; your reputation lies in shatters. If I buy my friends food for €300 (incl tip) I would like to get good food, and be treated correctly.
Utterly disappointing. We will not return.

Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed a delicious evening meal at Jack's Coastguard Restaurant in Cromane.
From the moment we entered the restaurant and throughout our evening we experienced a warm welcome from Brian, and his team. The warmth and cleanliness of the place, together with the attention of every member of staff to our needs, their generous hospitality and friendliness, were simply second to none.
The menu was full of wonderful choices, the food was exquisite, and beautiful live music in the background added delightfully to the ambiance.
We would have no hesitation whatsoever recommending Jack's Coastguard Restaurant, where guests can feel reassured and safe in the knowledge that COVID-19 Guidelines are taken seriously.

Where to start - we were greeted on arrival by such a friendly and welcoming host (Brian I think his name was). He showed us to our seats. All the tables were spaced out, the waiters kept their distance and could be seen sanitizing regularly.
I had Oysters to start which were incredible. So well presented and tasted just incredible. I would definitely get them again when we go back.
For my main I order wild salmon and it was melt in your mouth perfection. Every bite was bursting with flavour! The portion sizes were just right so we weren't too full for dessert.
My dessert of choice was a selection of ice creams and they were just delightful.
I would not hesitate to recommend this place.

Was at a wedding here recently and was blown away by the entire experience. The setting was stunning right by the water, and I’m happy to say that the food and service came to match. I’m a coeliac so am used to being offered slightly underwhelming gluten free options while at big events, however my courses were altered with no hesitation and were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Such special attention to detail was given down to the gluten free bread and butter itself and it left a wonderful impression. Thanks so much - I’ll be back!

The food wasn't great. We got chicken burgers. The bun was hard and the chinken was bland and hard and rubbery. All our soft drinks were completely flat, the drinks were served in a glass, normally you would get a glass bottle with ice in a glass and you pour yourself. I wonder were they pouring from an old plastic bottle. My kids had the fish and chips. That was actually nice but there was no tarter sauce which I found odd. Disappointed overall, came here years ago and it was beautiful. Won't be returning.

We visited Jacks Coastguard Restaurant for Monday BH lunch. They had a lovely menu with 28 EUR for three and 25 EUR for two courses. Amazing value for money!
The food was truly unbelievable! We tried crab meat risotto and grilled hake as well as meringue with fruits for dessert. The food was delicious! I would only pick different dessert next time as the meringue was a bit hard to bite.
The staff wasn't overly friendly, especially lady at the door, but the entire experience was very good.
Highly recommend!

Have been visiting Glenbeigh for years and always said we'd visit Jacks...kids are of an age now so went Wed's night. Superb in every way. Service faultless and attentive. Food exceptional - the risotto was magnificent, the mussels whilst maybe not needing quite such a thick sauce, were very tasty. The steak was perfect and the kids menu included Tempura Prawns, a huge hit with 'my lot', so tired of the usual sausages, gourjons and kids pastas...
Finished with delicious desserts and coffee outside overlooking the water, couldn't ask for more.
Will be back regularly and cannot recommend enough!!

Jack’s Bar and Restaurant is a must if you are in the Cromane/Killorglin/Glenbeigh area. The food, the presentation, the staff and views are just amazing. Jack’s cater for all palates but the fish on the menu is a must, especially the fresh water salmon, when available, I have never seen my daughter (11yrs) enjoy her food so much.
Highly recommend a visit 👌
