Wonderful old church, just went for a pre-dinner drink, wish we could've stayed longer. Seemed very elegant, and had a lovely atmosphere

Went for dinner. Pleasant but slow service. Lovely old church with a location and setting that promised so much. Food generous portion but lacking refinement and flavour. Rudimentary presentation. Kids meal tasteless ( pasta and sauce). Not recommended (even though in Michelin guide etc) and not worth the drive out from Killarney.

Amazing and unique atmosphere is what really makes this place so fantastic! Set in an old church it has a lot of character and charm. Food is good, couldn't fault it at all. Brilliant choice of wine which is very reasonably priced, some wines you can't get anywhere else in Ireland, as apparently the restaurant imports them directly from Spain.... More

Organised a surprise party for my husband in Sol Y Sombra last weekend - and we were delighted with the evening. Clioldhna was so helpful with the planning, which made organising the party very straight forward. On the night everyone complimented the very special venue, the fabulous food and the fantastic staff. Highly recommend Sol y Sombra.

We found this place by pure chance. It looked really interesting as it is in a converted old church. What a gem. The food was amazing but that alone wasn't what made our visit so enjoyable. The staff and the place itself is what really make this place stand out. The staff were perfect. I really don't think I could... More

We really weren't planning a night out, but got the notion and off we went. Turned up without a booking but we well looked after. While I didn't like the peppers everything else was fabulous and when they saw that I had barely touched them, enquiries were made, my opinion noted and they were removed from our bill. Very nicely... More

I was there for late dinner on Friday evening. Place is quite big not cosy anyway. I ordered patatas bravas and was served plain roasted potatoes with hot red souse and mayo!! Prawns were dipped in cold olive and chorizo sausage was not tasty at all. The only good thing was desert.... I was very disappointed as I expected to... More
