Small, cosy, quirky, this is a great place for those who enjoy wine and are happy eating simple but very tasty dishes. Not for those wanting a full dinner experience, it is laid back, knowledgeable and assured in a simple way.
The smoker gives the...food a wonderful flavour and keeps it succulent. The smoked chicken supreme with pea puree and the lightest blue cheese bon bons ever, was finished with a morel sauce and enjoyed with a fabulous Gruner Veltliner.
Lots of carefully chosen wines to buy from the little wine shop at the front. Genial Ray was very welcoming and the team deserve success with their venture.More
Tucked away in its own passageway, indoor & outdoor eating. Friendly Staff with good knowledge of wines etc. Booked by telephone while in National Park & we were phoned an hour or so later to say there was a table for us. . . Not...a large menu, but something for all tastes & lovely wines. It has it’s own Wine Shop attached & accessible from main thoroughfare.More
We were drawn into this lovely restaurant on our second evening in Clifden, by the very enticing view down the side, and the lovely ambient music. We had a glass of wine or two, and felt fortunate to be able to get a booking for...our third and final night. It did not disappoint. Food, atmosphere, service, heat, lighting, wine - it was all perfect. We had smoked salmon, burnt ends of pork belly, hake and fillet steak, and everything was delicious! We are not wine experts, and the lovely Hannah gave us a great recommendation on the first evening that did not break the bank, and she remembered on the next evening what wine we'd had. Clifden is really lovely, but II would come back for the Lamplight alone!More
This was my second visit. There were five of us dining and the food was delicious. Each of us chose differently from the menu and were not disappointed. The wine list has a good choice. Service was a little slow, which seems to be a...common theme with restaurants since opening up after Covid. Some avoidable hiccups that were avoidable as they related to internal communications. However, overall, we had a great experience and I look forward to further visits.More
Lamplight was recommended by a sommelier in Dublin as a top place. It certainly lives up to its reputation and a wonderful place for gifts at a time where we cant visit. However as soon as restriction lift i look forward to a return visit...and purchases.More
Just wanted a bottle of champagne to celebrate the arrival of a grandson. The situation in Ireland re having to have food was nicely explained and it was suggested we just had a platter of bred, olives and dips, costing 11 euros.Nice Bolly, nice platter and...a seat in the sun.Perfect.More
We so enjoyed this unexpected culinary experience in the Lamplight Wine Bar in Clifden. We ordered a unique Halibut main course which was cooked to perfection paired with a recommended wine by the charming waitress Hannah. The fish and roast potatoes were so flavoursome and...the other main course of duck was delicious. The ambience and atmosphere of this restaurant was delightful and we would highly reccommend a trip to the Lamplight.More
