Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I thought for the price it was mediocre. I had the steak and my spouse had the scallops. Nothing to brag about. There no substitutes for anything it all an up charge. If you can’t eat certain foods too bad.

Stopped in this lovely thatched cottage on my way to Dublin. We had a delicious meal and found the staff to be very friendly and efficient. Good value for money and great choices to be had.

Definitely not!!Tomato and basil soup was obviously diluted with water. Three scallops which were priced at €29.00 served with dried potatoes. Overpriced and poor food. Don’t waste your time or money.

We didn’t realize many restaurants close fairly early in Ireland, so we arrived 10 minutes before closing for dinner after attending mass across the street. Almost didn’t get in, but the lovely lady manager welcomed us. Small quaint little restaurant that is not to be...missed if you’re in Adare. And OMG the food and service was outstanding. We ordered fish and chips and a shrimp cocktail. And the Irish coffee delicious. Thank you so much for squeezing us in at the last minute.More

Located in an idyllic thatched row house in the picturesque town/village of Adare. Staff were pleasant and attentive... Lovely local beer - Killarney IPA - very good. Food however was very average. Chicken & bacon salad was uninspiring and not enhanced by the 'packet' croutons;...scallops were quite nice, though the sauce was a but thin; panna cotta had too much gelatin and not enough, hardly any actually, flavour. Regrettably, this meal did not do a lot for me.More

We stopped here on the way home to Northern Ireland, we got seated outside in the tent area which we love as we have a little well behaved dog , first things first the nice woman gave my dog some cool water , our food...was lovely staff was friendly and I noticed other dogs under the tables too , people realise this is a dog friendly restaurant at lunch time , it has a lovely thatched room pleasing on the eye , a tip if your next stop is Dublin there is a lovely park beside this restaurant to walk your dog and to stretch your legs , will I go back , most certainly 👍More

We stopped for lunch while on a stroll exploring Adare. Lovely warm greeting from attentive young waiters, which was a great start to our meal. We are outdoors in a covered space just as you enter the premises. We noted they were rigorously checking Covid...passports for those seeking indoor dining, which was reassuring. My husband ordered the pepperoni pizza and I had the cottage pie. We had a Chianti with it that was divine — an unexpected treat to find such a delicious wine at such an affordable price. The food was delicious, with generous portions. I could not fault any of it. We were too full for dessert but that is not a bad complaint! We noticed the wait staff being super friendly to all their customers, especially the fair haired young man and dark haired girl serving in our section — both were a credit to the restaurant. A nice spot for lunch!More

My husband and I genuinely enjoyed our dining experience at The Blue Door Adare. As we entered the restaurant, we were welcomed warmly by a young waitress and were tended to frequently throughout our meal. The food was delicious as my husband and I opted...for the salmon on a bed of spinach. The pleasant atmosphere of the cottage added to our experience. We expect to be back again soon.More

The night started off with a great introduction and the covid passes being checked which is good to see that they are being put to use. The well decorated interior is full of wonderful paintings. It matches the food perfectly as my wife has never...been more pleased with the food she has gotten in a restaurant. She got the scallops and was amazed at the size and tastiness of them. I ordered the fillet of salmon and it was absolutely delightful. Everything was cooked to perfection. The waiters made sure to be friendly and even were smiling and waving at my new born. It was amazing to see the kind hearted young staff enjoying their job while getting all of their work done at the same time. The whole night was fantastic and we will definitely be going back next time we are passing through Adare.More

While staying in Ballingarry last week, my wife and I had dinner here. While her meal was acceptable, mine certainly wasn't. I chose the "Fillet of Kenmare Salmon on a Bed of Spinach" from the a-la-carte menu. The salmon had a greyish tint to it...and was seriously overcooked. The spinach consisted of a green blob of tasteless mush. While i ate the salmon, the green blob was beyond me. When the waitress removed our plates I complained about the spinach. After a minute, she admitted that it wasn't fresh spinach, but frozen. My overall impression was that both the salmon and spinach had been cooked some time earlier and reheated.More

We stayed at Dunraven Arms which is across the street from the Blue Door. We had a 6:30 reservation so got the Early Bird Menu with excellent pricing. Two people had the scallops which they said were fantastic and were huge & one had salmon...which was also very good. Nice variety of menu options and wine/drink choices. Inside is small so we decided to eat outside in a white tent. Service was excellent and food memorable. Friends who went the next night also loved their meals and decided to go two nights in a row. Don’t think you would be disappointed with anything on the menu!More

I dined at the Blue Door in Adare today for lunch with two friends. I have a serious allergy to eggs and peanuts and I informed the waiter of this fact. I reiterated that it was a serious situation and that it was very important...that no item in my food can contain either of these ingredients. When my food arrived there was a mayonnaise-based dressing on the salad. It was very lucky I spotted this before I had taken a bite as I would have been seriously ill otherwise. I informed the waiter and my food was replaced with little apology. This service is not good enough about a very serious matter.More
