Beautiful meal at The Cottage tonight. Hadn’t been since before pandemic. Lovely 4 course set menu. Excellent value at €50 per person. 2 starters, mains and desert. Every course full of flavour. Very difficult to choose. Chicken tikka and stuffed mushroom starters beautifully flavoured with...subtle spices. Hake main course was best hake dish I’ve had. Service highly efficient and staff very friendly. Would highly recommend. Can’t wait for next visit.More

We’ve been there for Sunday lunch a few times over the years and it’s always been lovely. We decided to try dinner here last Saturday night. The food is absolutely beautiful, presentation was lovely and the staff were very friendly. Would highly recommend.

We ate here and had the the set four course menu. The decor is really nice and there was just such a welcoming atmosphere. Our food was absolutely amazing. We could not fault any part of our meal. We left absolutely full to the brim....The menu price is very reasonable at €50.00 per head and a substantial wine list with a wide range of prices to suit any budget. One piece of advice for future customers is to make sure you have cash for a tip as you cannot add a tip on the card machine! We will just have to return to tip for the service as it was just that good. Thank you for a fabulous meal, we both said that it was the best dinner that we have ever had!More

First meal out since March and what an experience .This is without doubt one of the best restaurants in Ireland. There were 4 of us so we tried almost every dish on the menu.If this restaurant was in a city anywhere there would be a...waiting list and Michelin stars.Incredible value for such a varied ,exciting and perfectly cooked meal served by friendly efficient welcoming staff.Keep it up and wwe will certainly be back again and againMore

Dined there last week. €60 tasting menu was excellent. Server was knowledgeable courteous and very attentive. The temporary location is no match for the Jamestown restaurant where we’ve eaten in the past, however our server explained that the social distancing requirements were impractical there. Highly...recommended- only gripe was the Finca Florencia Malbec seemed overpriced at €35.More

Visited last week as a last minute decision passing through Carrick. The restaurant has relocated to a Cafe during Covid, which was a little strange at first (in the middle of a shopping area) but the food made up for it. We had 9 course...set menu and every course was delicious. I believe they change every week but for us the seafood and lamb were outstanding. The tables were separated. The service was great and friendly. We did not get to meet Chef Shah as he left after service, however had a log chat with his brother Lee who was very friendly. Definitely would think of coming back again when they are back in the original restaurant as I hear its beautiful. Suggest if you are to stay there longer maybe do better advertising out front of the temporary Cafe as we nearly walked away thinking this cant be a luxury restaurant.More

The staff were wonderful, attentive without being intrusive. They refilled our water jug promptly without asking. The place filled up very quickly once the place opened at 6 pm on a cold wintry November night. Cosy and friendly atomosphere which leant itself to strangers chatting...amiably. An Indian amuse bouche of onion bhaji was a surprise, tiny but tasty. My husband and I both had scallops to start. The plate of food is like a piece of art and the food was very tasty, but also very expensive at €14 each. Mains were also beautiful and tasty. I had a beef special that consisted of beef cooked in three different ways. Husband had three different types of port which were nice. Veg were lovely and crunchy with curry potatoes. We were too full to try dessert. Overall the meal was very good but I was expecting more WOW for the price. We had no drink and our two course meal came to over seventy euro for the two of us. Service was exceptional. It restricts locals returning very regularly at that price. We were visitors and enjoyed the experience - would we return?????? not so sure.More

The Cottage is a genuinely excellent restaurant - it comprises all the vital ingredients (pardon the pun) - excellent food, friendly and professional service and a warm, inviting ambience. The staff are welcoming, friendly and professional. They seem to work with smiles on their faces....The atmosphere in the restaurant - a charming rural cottage setting - is friendly and very buzzy, lots of conversations and laughter. The food is of the highest standard. We had two starters - scallops and venison, both were excellent with gentle Asian flavours complimenting the succulent shell fish and slightly stronger flavours adding to the lovely taste of venison. Main course was Duck for Ciara and Dexter beef for me. The Duck breast was beautifully flavoursome and a generous size. The Dexter beef was served up as a fillet, a type of spring roll and a pulled-beef type cake. The fusion of Asian flavours in the spring roll was amazing, the pulled-beef cake was delicious and the fillet was just to-die for. A chocolate mousse that was an adventure of different chocolate creations on top of a smooth and sinful centre was stunning. Add to this two gin and tonics before we sat down and an excellent bottle of wine and we were totally sated. And the bonus was that it was not only one of the finest meals we have eaten over the last few years, it was also one of the best value. Fabulous food at a fair price. We were staying in nearby Carrick-on-Shannon and the Cottage is a five minute taxi drive away from the town and taxi's are easy to get. If you are ever in that area, please do yourselves a favour and book a table in the Cottage, it is a wonderful experience.More
