Great food and service

Had a wonderful night in Buffalo Boy on Friday last. We were a party of 4 including a 12 and 14 year old. Menu is extensive and very reasonably priced for what you get. We shared a number of starters all of which were superb especially the novel Beef Cigars ! Main courses were really tasty and I would highly recommend the BBQ ribs which were melt in the mouth. The kids had burgers and the quality of the meat was top notch. The dessert menu catered for everybody. As the kids were full we asked could we get them to take away...no problem at all. Two dessert arrived packaged with spoons and napkins and were demolished later in the evening ! Apart from the quality of the food the staff were superb. Very knowledgeable about the menu and really friendly and accommodating - nothing was any trouble. Its this level of service and good food that will have us coming back again and recommending Buffalo Boy to all our friends

Made feel safe with Covid-19 protections

Full marks to Buffalo Boy for being Covid-19 compliant and putting extensive measures in place to help protect both their customers and their staff. We felt extremely safe and comfortable while enjoying our delicious meal at Buffalo Boy last week. The food and service was fantastic and the new measures that have been put in place ensured we were able to relax and thoroughly enjoy our meal. Thanks to all involved.

Coming out of lock down and what more would you want! Booking was slick and easy, follow up call on the day as a reminder, and seating was a breeze. Table service was very good and food was delish! Coffee and cocktails were a nice touch and for the designated driver they have this crafty cocktail called 'No-Jitos' which is cheap non alcoholic bevi but you don't get left out.€€€ is very reasonable and good value ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Wouldn't Rush Back

We arrived a couple of minutes early for our 6pm booking & were asked to wait while they cleared out space upstairs. This would normally be no big deal but we were there for approx 20mins before being called upstairs & in that time weren't even asked if we'd like to go ahead & order a drink. We were a group of 4 sat waiting at a table for 4 but could not use this table for some unknown reason. The noise upstairs was crazy, which obviously wasn't the restaurants fault but having to shout across the table at each other over dinner wasn't very nice & even my 5yr old was complaining about the noise. Downstairs had a much more relaxed atmosphere & we would have much preferred to have stayed down there. Majority of the food was tasty but the chips were soggy, kids goujons were mainly just batter & all was a bit overpriced. Food even arrived before the wine with the reason being that they were waiting on wine glasses! Staff were attentive but none of them knew which table had already been tended to so a number of different staff kept approaching us to take orders etc. When booking, I was asked if there was an occasion that they should be aware of which I thought was a very nice touch. When I said it was for my dad's birthday they offered to arrange a small birthday dessert plate but this never arrived. All in all I feel that our experience could have been a lot better.

Not worth it

Waitress was lovely but can’t say the same for the food. Ordered a medium rare steak got a well done steak instead, the waitress was lovely and brought it back. I normally wouldn’t send food back but I was really looking forward to having steak. Steak came back cremated could barely cut it, it was left on the plate uneaten. The waitress came back to check on us and I said it was over cooked but to leave it I didn’t want another at that point it was just too awkward. Paid full price for a meal that couldn’t be chewed. Very disappointed won’t be back.

Amazing food great service

I contacted buffalo boy on instagram and asked if they had an reservations for the Wednesday evening as we are a last min plan family they got back to us and said they had a place just and no more for rhe time we had. We arrived and were promptly shown to our table. My son ordered a plain cheese burger which he loved my wife had the mushroom which was bursting with flavour and I had the 16oz tbone steak which was cooked to perfection. Service was prompt and they were very attentive to us

What a restaurant loved every minute of it. 8 of us went got a family dinner during the summer, each and every one of us couldn’t stop talking about the food. So tasty and very reasonable. The manager was serving us and he could not have been more accommodating, he recommended some meals and they were absolutely delicious! Overall a wonderful experience would highly recommend!

Went to Buffalo boy recently for a family occasion, the food was excellent, generous portions, the Children in the group we well catered to also with a great selection on the kid's menu. Service was top class, all the staff were so friendly and accommodating. Malbec was delicious and the cocktails even nicer. Thank you to all that made this family occasion so memorable. xx

Meat? go eat at Buffalo Boy!!!

If you are American and used to med rare --> rare filet mignons....go here! THIS place as well as the Cottage (basically owned by the same people) are amazing and what you'd expect if you want good food. The manager is super nice and the place is filled with people that WANT to help you and WANT to smile and give great customer service. The decor is cool. I would highly recommend this place!

Kids meal not good...

We ate here for mothers day - we were in a queue after entering the premises and the waiter proceeded to deal with the family who entered after us - my husband had to point our we had been waiting, No atmosphere or greeting or welcome..... the food was fine, my chips were soggy and the kids goujons and chips were not good. When they came out they were these giant battered goujons. To be honest they did not look nice. As a parent my advise would be give kids what they want, I wouldn't mind but no where on the menu did it state the goujons would be battered, had we have known my son would have ordered something else. Myself and my husband tried them and they were not good and very bland. When the waiter came to take payment (same waiter from the door - possible English accent) he asked was everything ok and my husbands pointed at the goujons and said 'they were not great'. The waiter immediately said with a harsh tone ' what was wrong with him'. I piped in 'they are not what you would expect'. My husband then said I don't want anything I am just letting you know. The waiter couldn't have cared less. Shame really, based on that we did not leave a tip.

I didn't realise Croke Park served food...

Went here last night, Saturday night & didn't really get the experience I was expecting after seeing the place hyped up online by both the premises itself & customers. First of all, when I made the the booking over the phone, I was told that we had to be out after an hour and 45 minutes from the time of the booking. A bit strange, I thought, but I could work around it. We got there, fantastic looking place & the staff couldn't have been nicer. However, I was under the impression that this was a restaurant. There was a Dublin vs Waterford game on the telly & the noise from the people watching the match was insane. Absolutely no one was at their tables. Everyone just shouting at the telly. Certainly not the setting I had for dinner with my family. The food was fine. I got the burger, which was nice. My wife got mushrooms, which she thought were beautiful & came away stuffed. The side of chips which came with my burger were totally dry, so that was a bit of a let down. Even if it wasn't like being at a match, what with all the noise, I wouldn't be in a rush back here. As said earlier, it seemed to give the impression online that it was a top class venue to go for food. It wasn't. I have to say, though, the staff were quite simply fantastic. Credit where it's due.

Thanks guys for the most fabulous meal and personal attention to detail. The steak was to die for and I can honestly say it was by far the best dining experience I have had recently. I have never had an unsatisfactory visit with you guys but the experience I had Sunday nite was spectacular. It stood out because although you were run off your feet you still made us feel like we were the only customers there. From start to finish I have to say we were not disappointed one bit. We couldnt find(even if we tried) a fault. We had the nachos (chilli beef) and a for starter between myself and My hubby. Small size was plenty big to get out pallette going. For mains I has the bbq pulled pork and beef burger. ive never in my life had a burger so tender (melt in your mouth) and my hubby had the bbq ribs with mac and Cheese side, corn on the cob and slaw. Absolutely unreal. The ribs were sooo tender. Then to finish and I thought surely the deserts or one will have to ok but wow once again they come out and not only presentation was fab but wow!! The taste! I had the bread and butter pudding with honeycomb ice cream,angliase and cream on the side. hubby had sticky toffee pudding with carmel sauce and honeycomb icecream. Hands down the best meal start to Finish we've had In a long time. Staff so friedly and great service. Cosy atmosphere and warm. It's a. Must visit if your staying in Carrick on Shannon. It has a great variety also, so had to choose. That's the only problem. So reasonably priced also. We had 1 starter, 2 mains, 2 deserts, 2 soft drinks, a Guinness and tea for €70.definitely a meal we won't forget!

Excellent food and lovely staff

This was our final night after a short break on the river, ending in Carrick. We (four of us) walked round the town and thought this restaurant looked good, so we booked for later. So pleased we did, as there was a steady flow of diners for the entire time we were there. We shared chicken wings and loaded potato skins for starters, and lamb chops, ribs, the platter and nachos for mains. All were delicious. Swapping items on the menu - chips instead of mac n cheese - was no problem. Service was very friendly and efficient and Gabriel, the manager had time to chat to everyone as well as being very hands on with serving. We would definitely return if we were ever in the area.

Great steak, wine and homemade chips, what more do you want!! If you’re in Carrick On Shannon make sure to book this place. Staff were attentive and very friendly. Food was very tasty, steak cooked to perfection and the whiskey sour was 👌
