We had one day in Kinsale, and by luck, found our way to the Black Pig Winebar. It turned out to be maybe our best meal in the two weeks we were in the west of Ireland. That's no small task, considering how many shockingly...good meals we had. The setting, the service, the delectable bites.....a classically perfect dining experience. We sat in the back room with water running down the back wall, which just added to the ambience. We were helped by a very patient server (forgotten his name but very friendly and highly informative). He guided us in picking a variety of smaller dishes and every single one was utterly brilliant. And he helped us choose a perfect white wine that went perfectly with our meal. Despite arriving not long before closing time, we in no way felt rushed and were encouraged to stretch out and enjoy our time. The entire event was a delight, and I left there saying that I'm glad to spend good money when I feel like I've had an amazing experience. This was worth every penny and we hope to return on our next trip.More

Absolutely first class from…….. first speaking with Siobhain to make our booking right through our whole dining experience…….loved the ambience we had a table to side of front door…….food just perfection, service stalled so our food came out slowly hence leaving us lots of time...to enjoy the flavours…….they were short staffed I reckon but this did not hinder our experience, Siobhain and her team did brillant…..wine list is extraordinary…….so for us easier to go by what was recommended after we chatted about wines……would live to go back and highly recommend…..enjoy!More

This is a charming wine bar with several small plate options. As a solo diner, I was largely ignored, which is typical. There were some solo regulars who were waited on hand and foot. I get it. The smoked salmon was delightful. The prawns average....The side salad very fresh but unremarkable. The wine list is exceptional.More

Dinner at the Black Pig Wine Bar was a total experience: excellent and refined food, excellent service, a voluminous wine list and a convivial vibe. We were able to secure an early reservation and were seated indoors (at our request) near a fireplace in a...small alcove that made it seem like a private table. From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed. The staff is first rate. Our serve was friendly, casual but also very professional. When another server observed me poring through the vast wine list she immediately came over and offered some help. Even though she was not our server she brought me a taste and when out server returned he knew what had taken place and he took over. The staff clearly talks to each other. The food was superb. As vegetarians we had already checked it out enough to know we would have options. Everything was amazing: The cheese board, the mushrooms on toast (a real standout), and we did go pescatarian to try the oysters that were large meaty and briny. I've had great meals in restaurants around the world and while not a gourmand or serious world traveller, I would put the Black Pig in the top five places I have eaten over the last 40 years. If you are in Kinsale, go to this restaurant. It does not disappoint. Thanks to the staff and chefs!More

This was our first time to visit The Black Pig. We were a walk in and when we arrived Charlie the manager advised that it could be an hour before we could get a table as we hadn’t made a reservation. Normally we would leave,...but the way that Charlie gave us time and space to decide if we wanted to wait and have a drink at the bar was very kind so we decided to stay. We were so glad that we did. The service from Brendan was outstanding from start to finish. Although the wine list is very extensive, we found great value at all price levels. The food was incredible and we thoroughly enjoyed every one of the dishes. The restaurant was very busy with a great vibe and we can’t wait to go back. We had heard great things about The Black Pig and now we understand why. Truly exceptional in every aspect.More

What an amazing meal. Tapas with a twist - pakoras, asparagus and exquisite charcuterie, followed by prawns and burrata. Two of us popped into The Black Pig for a quick bite to eat. We were blown away by the quality of the food and the...warmth of the welcome. We were early on a quiet Wednesday evening and this place was heaving. The wine list will blow you away, with what is probably Irelands largest selection of biodynamic wines. I was particularly impressed with their regional French wines and an exceptionally well stocked dessert wine list, including the stunning Lustau San Emilio PX sherry. Book now. You wont be disappointed.More

This place was gorgeous. The street was silent but the place was hopping! Cool jazz, lots of chat, didn’t know shrimp could taste so good. Will be back. With friends.

We were last here in 2018, it is very difficult for a restaurant to live up to your memory of it, especially an early sitting, early in the season, but The Black Pig truly surpassed our expectations. We had the best dining experience, it was...a privilege to interact with a team of people working at the top of their game and revelling in it. We had a delightful night. A Prosecco Bellini and a Prosecco mojito set the scene. We had pre-ordered the Jamon Iberico, which met all expectations, transporting us back to Barcelona. The croquettes and crostini paired incredibly well with two orange wines which challenged the palate and emphasized the unctuous flavours. We don’t often drink white wines but the suggestions from Charlie, a bright Stellenbosch and a Moment of Silence ( totally deserving of the name) were so delicious and complemented the specials, sweet potato pakora, a tender warm hug, just as Charlie described them, and the mind-blowing purple-sprouted broccoli. The chicken liver pâté and Ballyhoura mushrooms on toast were made even more sublime by the incredible Californian Zinfandel and Sicilian mix of regional grapes that had us right back baking in the sun. At this point we had rather outstayed our early-bird sitting, but rather than moving us on, we were moved with grace to a new perch to continue our journey. An other-worldly tiramisu soared with the fresh cherries of a Californian black muscadet, while the decadent chocolate mousse held its ground against the underestimated right hook of a twenty-year tawny port. This experience was one that we will compare all others against in future. Our sincere thanks to Charlie for her knowledge and unfeigned enthusiasm for her role, guiding us through the wine selection, which made our experience so memorable, and to the gifted chefs and team working so hard unseen, you made our holiday. We are lucky enough to live in West Cork, with access to incredible local food, so it is truly magical when these ingredients are combined to create something so special, in a relaxed and unpretentious environment, where their focus is on sharing their love of great food and wine. We can’t wait to return.More

One of the best meals i have ever had! We booked ahead based on Trip Advisor reviews and we were blown away by the quality of food and varied menu. We had 7 small plates between 3 of us with lashings of red wine. Simply...outstanding and bathroom area smells amazing! Can’t wait to return when next in Kinsale!More

To call the black pig a wine bar is very understated. The entire experience was magical. Beth provided amazing service and recommendations. Not to be outdone by Beth Miriam was a treasure helping to select desserts and ports. The food was better than expected (...and we had very high expectations). Everything was perfect the food, drinks, ambiance, service.More

Fantastic restaurant with a great wine list. Portions are a little on the small side, but the food is very, very good and the atmosphere is second to none. I am already planning a return visit..

One of our favorite dining experiences in the world was at Gramercy tavern, and this place tops it. While the bloom has fallen off Gramercy after we’ve been there several times and have been disappointed this place achieved success at every level. The tapas are...so creative and delightful, the service was attentive yet hands-off and the vibe is delightful. Just go and enjoy, you won’t be disappointed. They have a wine for every taste… Amazing. Make a reservation or you will walk away disappointed unless they have one of the few bar spaces available.More
