Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely amazing food and atmosphere. I can't recommend it enough. The staff were so lovely. And there were 7 of us and it was very reasonably priced. Thank you so much for making a family celebration extra special.

Very busy, but we soon understood why. Tapas-style plates all delivered on taste and we were well advised by our waiter as to quantities to order. Chorizo and ham croquettes, asparagus and roast cauliflower were three particular standouts. I would happily return, and you should...visit when in Kinsale.More

We dined at the Black Pig twice. It is a small restaurant with a lovely outdoor patio. Reservations are definitely a good idea. The menu features local produce and small plates and each one we sampled was delicious. Staff was very friendly and efficient. So...good!!More

We live in Ireland at least half of the year and travel around quite extensively for leisure. This restaurant was a special experience that we were delighted with ourselves for finding. A big thanks to Brendan who waited on us, his knowledge of the dishes...and how to be there when you needed him but not over bearing, he had the perfect balance, always watching us to see if we needed him and not intruding when we were in full conversation and in the middle of a meal. He was fantastic! The bar man also had a very good knowledge of the wines and what a list they have got, we found a wonderful bottle that we so enjoyed and had not tasted before. The food was just incredible chef! This was our first time to Kinsale, and we had already decided we liked it and would return but this restaurant alone would have us return just for the ambiance, the food and the perfect balance of service. Well done to all of you and thank you for a fantastic evening! Best, Laura JosephMore

If you are like us, and really enjoy a tapas and sharing plate experience, this cozy little place is for you. We had a lovely bottle of wine and about 5 different plates between us. Everything was so tasty and the service and ambience perfect....Quite an unusual place, with lots of interesting touches like shelves full of books, outdoor courtyard with heaters, seats at the bar as well as tables. Loved the fact that each table with a reservation had your name and time chalked on the wall or shelf behind the table. Very personal touch. Will certainly go again.More

Took a chance with no reservation. No seats available inside but got a table outside (heaters were on, so all good). The service was excellent and the food was fantastic. This is a must if you are in Kinsale. Would recommend booking

Gorgeous food and friendly staff but very disappointed with portion size of our main dish..(we were still hungry after!). Ordered the prawns in butter and chilli oil but very small. We ordered salad to share it was just salad leaves!.

Just finished a two week trip to Ireland and The Black Pig was the best meal of the entire trip. The food is absolutely delicious. We ordered most of the daily special items and a few off the main menu. Please don't miss out on...the mushroom toast. It was so good, we ordered a second one. The staff is amazing and so welcoming. They asked about our travels in Ireland and gave us some excellent restaurant recommendations for our upcoming travels to Dingle, Galway and Dublin. I can't say enough about the food and the hospitality.More

Wonderful dinner and super service! A perfect cozy setting… we didn’t have a reservation so showed up early. They had a small table available. We had a nice selection of small dishes— all very tasty! One of the best restaurants we’ve been to in Ireland!
