Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We arrived 7 minutes early to be told we should leave and have a drink and come back. I said I was happy to wait at the door, we had already had a pre dinner drink. We were told we were 7 minutes early and...I asked if there was somewhere to wait we were told no, there was nowhere to wait. I said I was not feeling welcome and was then told we could wait in the private dining room. I can’t understand why we weren’t offered a seat there when we arrived. We were reminded 3 or 4 times that we were 7 minutes early and that they wouldn’t have a table for a while. Finally a table was ready 12 minutes after the booked time. The menu reads very well and my wife ordered cauliflower cheese to start and I ordered sticky spare ribs. For mains we both ordered Dexter Rib eye steaks, cooked medium. Cauliflower starter was excellent, ribs were really dry, akin to what you might be served in a bad Chinese takeaway. Main courses arrived and they were very under done for us. My wife sent her Bearnsise sauce back as it was cold. Mash was cold and the broccoli was also tepid with a cold sauce on top. When the waiter came to tidy up he asked how dinner was. I told him and also said I would be happy to discuss our experience with the chef. The waiter said he would talk to the chef. Next thing, the waiter arrived with the bill. Obviously the chef was so convinced of his great talents (ahem) that he just required our money (€151.00) with no discussion as to the merits or otherwise of his (ahem) “talents”. This is a badly run restaurant in dire need of somebody to oversee it. Far too many mistakes to list. Pics of the “cooked medium” steaks attached.More

We are a family of 5 who dined here over mid term break. This restaurant is warm and welcoming. It is sophisticated but unpretentious. The service was excellent but it was the food that impressed most. We dined at several restaurants in Kinsale throughout our...break but this was hands down our favourite!More

We arrived at 6.30 as booked. The restaurant was 75% full. We ordered only a main course each. A rump of lamb and a mushroom lasagne. They arrived 55 minutes later….hmmm? The centre temperature of the lasagne was just blood warm, totally unacceptable! I tested...it with the tip of a knife on my tongue. The rump, which was not very good quality, was served with a potato garnish which was cool, as was the green cabbage, which was barely cooked…not good enough! I asked the restaurant manager if there was there an issue … he said that they have a head chef another chef who’s new. Ok, but how should a competent restaurant manage that? 'Do they use heat probe thermometers?' I asked. 'Yes, but not for every dish'. The lasagne should have been tested as it was cooked some time well before service - and hopefully properly stored in a fridge! It should never be left to the customer to quality assure the dish!! There is a considerable mismatch between the very high price and the quality and service offered. This visit provided me with considerable concern that the management of the kitchen and the restaurant is lacking in a number of respects that need to be addressed! More than disappointing!More

My wife and I had an exceptional meat at Finns Farmcut in Kinsale - it was the best meal of a 3 week trip, and we ate at many fine establishments! My wife had a filet and scallops "surf and turf", with both elements perfectly...executed, well seasoned, and flavorful. I had their beef pie, which was hearty, with deep flavor throughout and fantastic. We shared a cheese and ham croquette appetizer that was top-notch, and a lemon meringe bomb that was incredible - tart, not too sweet, and every bite delectable. The service was also attentive but not intrusive, the meal well-paced. Overall, it was a wonderful meal that we will remember for a long time!More

I am torn on this restaurant. The entire staff was outstanding. The vibe was warm and friendly. The food (specifically what we had) was just OK. It looked good (Steak, Surf and Turf and Mussels), but in all honestly it could have been better.

The bone marrow was off the charts, and that was the start. Wine list is terrific, Julie was the most warm and friendly person I met in Ireland, and that says a lot. The rack of lamb was bone gnawing good, and the filets looked...awesome. But, the hostess made us feel like family.More

Had been looking for somewhere nice to eat while on a short break in Kinsale. I had read some of the reviews on Finns and decided to give it a whirl because of their reputation for their steaks.. They did not disappoint! Be advised that...you should book in advance for a table, there were plenty of people calling to the place looking for a table without a booking but unfortunately for them turned away.. we did so online the booking process seemed a bit stilted requiring card details but we went ahead with the booking as we were keen to try this restaurant. We arrived early for our 6pm booking and after a couple of minutes we were seated and ordering from the fine menu, Finn's have a vast selection of wines so if wine is your thing I think you will have a ball selecting your accompaniment, we decided on a lovely crisp Pinot Grigio which was very nice and light. Steaks... well what can I say. There was an early bird offer on some huge cuts of beef but I decided to be predictable as ever and went with the surf n turf offering a 4oz fillet with some perfectly cooked scallops, this was the largest 4oz of Fillet I've seen, Chef was very generous. I had ordered it medium and thats exactly what arrived cooked to perfection with a huge portion of beautifully cooked seasonal carrot and parsnip and the mash potato was the nicest I've eaten other than my mothers cooking I kid you not! Again my wife had ordered the 8oz fillet steak with the double fried chips now my wife prefers her steak medium to well done and our host had been very helpful and clear that medium to well would be closer to well done, it arrived perfectly cooked again to my wife's wishes and we shared the large portions of veg and mash. We had kept it simple for the starters my wife had ordered the breads which were lovely, fresh and warm.. I kept sneaking bits of it walloped with butter while I had the soup, again the freshest and oh so tasty. Finally the service, impeccable. The waitress who also served us was friendly, polite and very helpful. She had explained and even apologised for the very slight delay seating us(there wasn't a delay we had arrived early and they had just opened the door and were setting up) I was also aware that some of the patrons in the restaurant that evening were repeat, regular, international and local customers, not that I was ear wigging but the dining area is beautifully appointed very comfortable and congenially cosy, families and couples and returning customers is a clear indication of a quality restaurant. Highly recommended, if and when we return to Kinsale I plan on calling again.More

Truly one of the best meals I have ever had … and we are snobby foodies. The staff worked their tails off and made great recommendations. A new item on the menu was the bone marrow starter - truly heavenly. With an exceedingly fresh parsley...pesto. It barely beat out the truffle and leek mac and cheese. The fries were twice cooked in beef fat … only ones better are pommes frites in France which are twice fried in duck fat. But the piece de resistance: the dexter ribeye. Oh my word - and us Texans know our beef, I’m just sayin’ 😉 Thanks to a local shop owner’s recommendation that the desserts are worth, we topped the meal with the chocolate dish. Surprisingly rich but not too sweet or overpowering.More

We had a fabulous meal at Finn's. We started with the homemade bread and the grilled oysters~ special that night. The oysters were amazing!! The wait staff was friendly and attentive. For our main course, our table had the lamb and the 8oz fillet. Both were...cooked to perfection. We did not have dessert but they certainly looked tempting as they went by. We will certainly come back here on our next visit.More
