Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I believe this location used to be a different coffee shop with the same lending library. It was known as a place with good coffee and delectibles. Today the shop is owned by an aviation enthusist. The aviation memorbilia and photos are fun to look...at. The coffee and sweets are just ok.More

This premises is where The Poet’s Corner cafe used to be and we were regulars there. The Flying Poet is okay, but a let down in comparison to what the Poet’s Corner offered. The coffee was weak, only one type of cake (brownies), and sandwich...was fine, but nothing special. The walls are covered with photographs of pilots; nothing historic, or especially interesting I would say; more like someone’s personal selection. The staff were friendly but clearly inexperienced. The Poet’s Corner used to allow you to swap a few books for ones on the shelves but that is no more, which is a pity, as it served to distinguish it from other cafes.More

Thanks for the review Ballinora4. We'll take your points into consideration but bear in mind most of our reviews say the opposite - especially on Google :) Coffee definitely isn't weak (its from a local roastery) and we have more cakes than only brownies... We...More

A great cafe, friendly place, with consistently superb coffee (hard to find in Kinsale in spite of gourmet reputation). Also surprisingly reasonably priced. Nice place to sit and browse books without feeling any need to rush. Great to see it has re-opened again, with slight...name change, under new management.More

Brilliant place! Unique aviation themed cafe. Toasted sandwiches absolutely delicious and superb coffee (and hot chocolate!). Staying with family outside Cork, this was our first visit. The cafe fits beautifully into the atmosphere and character of Kinsale. The staff were very friendly and service was...excellent. They moved tables and chairs to accommodate our family of 4 adults without any hesitation! We hope to fit in another visit during our stay in Cork. Visited 6 December 2022.More

I frequent The Flying Poet and love the uniqueness of an aviation themed cafe. They serve the best coffee and a mouth-watering selection of cakes. I went for the vegan wrap with a glass of red at lunchtime which was delicious. You are always guaranteed...a warm welcome and excellent service here. I can't recommend highly enough.More

This is absolutely one of my favorite go to places in Kinsale with the nicest people who work there! It’s perfect for a solo date to read a book or a chat with a friend. Also my favorite coffee in town and super reasonable prices!

I had a disappointing experience here this week. It’s a second hand book shop that doubles as a coffee shop. Young, untrained staff really let the place down, they only smiled when fellow teenagers arrived in. Coffees were lovely but the cakes were underwhelming. So...many nicer places to go in Kinsale.More

Visited here for coffee on a Saturday afternoon. Ordered two coffees and a slice of cake to share. Thought the bill was steep at €12.50, and when a chocolate brownie I didn’t order was slapped in front of my wife, this explained the high bill....No apology, no offer of a refund. Presented myself at the counter for a refund. Others then came into cafe and were served ahead of us, and when the coffees finally arrived, a surly chap again slapped them down in front of us. Transient staff that couldn’t give a flying aren’t doing your business any favoursMore

We stopped into this cute place as it has very high reviews on travel blogs. However, we experienced very unprofessional workers. The service was terrible, we ordered toasties and waited 45 minutes to receive our food, while other groups who came in after us, were...served quicker. The food was also not worth the wait. For the other good spots in Kinsale, skip out on this one.More
