Short menu executed beautifully! Snack of brown bread and kalamata olive tapenade yum! I thoroughly enjoyed everything about our meal in Max's from start to finish. I had prawn and calamari starter with Asian flavours, sublime flavours- umami! I opted for lamb cutlets and lamb...kofta for main, Moroccan inspired so tasty and sticky toffee pudding dessert was unreal! My partner had scallops for starter, Monkfish main and creme brulee with the perfect crack, all of which he enjoyed thoroughly. We paired our meal with a bottle of Albarino, very nice. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Only comment would be if you're doing the boiled local spuds again please give TWO per person!!More

We have over the past few years always put this restaurant as our must go to when visiting kinsale. So this Friday we booked in,and boy what a fabulous meal, absolutely faultless, both my wife and I would have licked the plates clean .Calamari, prawns ,scallops,...hake and Bass all perfectly cooked ,sauces ,and accompanying vegetables etc again spot on. Olivier takes great pride in all he presents to his customers and it shows, like all restaurants changes to menus, prices, hours etc have changed,to make them viable. But make no mistake Max's is where we will be again the next time in kinsale.Front of house Anne Marie is delightful and the service reflects her friendly but attentive nature.Go you and enjoy.More

Mostly, I don't like to review on individual dishes, especially where there are frequent menu changes. Also, tastes differ, so what I like may not appeal to another person's taste. On the night we were there we had two first class mains, excellent wines and...great service. There was absolutely nothing in our experience that would indicate that Max's Michelin rating is anything less than well-earned. It restored our faith in Kinsale's food capital claimsMore

Unbelievable. We were in Kinsale with 45 relatives. Ugh. But, Max’s was highly recommended. My fiancé and I took our adult children to dinner there. It was the most amazing experience, perfect service, and incredible food. We are from Baltimore, Maryland. It was by far...the best restaurant and food we have ever had.More

Despite the unassuming location on a back street in Kinsale, the meal was wonderful and worth a visit. They have a very nice wine list with lots of organic wine selections, and the lamb chops were top-notch. It's a bit pricey (about $42 US as...it's prix-fixe) but worth it. Overall, the staff was friendly, and the food was ridiculously good!!! We were in Ireland for 8 days and it was by far the best meal we had. It wasn't even close!More

On a business trip and saw that this restaurant had good reviews - so week phoned ahead and booked as a treat! The food was beautiful. We had the Brie and Duck as starters and both had the lamb as a main! The bread was...so delicious we asked for more! Great Rioja wine too! The lamb was beautiful, we like it pink and asked for that. It was perfect 👍🏼 We had a lovely warm welcome and the team were really friendly. It was a popular busy place! More than we’d normally spend for tea on a business trip but well worth it! Delicious! Thank you 😀More

Good but not great. The atmosphere was cozy and romantic, the decor was eclectic and simple. The menu was a two course prefix only, a starter and a main, with no other options. My preference would have been to order three starters! Despite butter sitting...on the table we were never served bread and the wine started to hit us before the first course arrived. I ordered the Brie en croûte which was eggroll style, the same kind of pastry that would use. The waitress looked abashed when I had to ask for bread for my hot, gooey Brie . For my main course I ordered the monkfish which was very good, however the sauce was a bit fishy. He ordered the scallop starter which was delicious, and the Seabass for his main which was very good. We had a bottle of an Albariño wine which was a perfect accompaniment for the fish. And we were able to order a dessert - sticky toffee pudding, my favorite! The wine list was varied and reasonableMore

This resaurant was suggested by our host at a B & B. It was so good, we went there the next night. Different fish and lamb dishes were outstanding !! Great wine selections. Of course they served the wonderful Irish brown bread. Elegant and quiet...restaurant, even on a crowded night. Our tour book recommended Fishy Fisht. We went there but it was loud with the constant traffic of the wait staff. Max's far exceeded Fishy Fishy, which is more well known from the tour books, in food, atmosphere and service.More

This restaurant has an excellent reputation and it is well deserved. I booked this restaurant for my youngest son's 11th birthday. This is most definitely a seafood restaurant so I'd be disinclined to recommend it to anyone who doesn't like seafood. There are however some...non-seafood options available. The food is delicate and carefully prepared. The staff are attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. It has a Michelin Star and it well and truly deserves it. Will be back next time in town.More
