It's always a nice menu. When we came in we were given some brown bread and a nice olive tapenade. For starters my wife had a warm mackerel salad and I had a warm Brie parcel. Very good. We both had the lamb chops and...lamb Kofta. Cooked perfectly. They have a very good wine list which is mainly French and Spanish. We had a bottle of one of my favourite wines, a Bourgogne Aligote and a bottle of Bourgogne Brouillly. Both excellent. Always a busy restaurant so booking is advised.More

We went to Max’s restaurant twice during our four night stay in Kinsale - the food is absolutely amazing! Everything we ordered was so flavoursome and the fish (we had monkfish and haddock) were cooked to perfection. The chef’s wife does front of house and...was so friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is relaxed with just the right level of noise. This was definitely the best meal we had in Kinsale.More

We tuned up here on a Tuesday night without a booking, and thankfully we were very lucky to secure a table. The service was very friendly, the food was very well executed & the wine list was well sourced. Max's is one of the oldest...restaurants in Kinsale and they are still flying the flag for fine dining in this gourmet town. A truly memorable meal, in a very cosy setting. Wonderful.More

Lovely tasty food..friendly staff..warm ambiance. Might I suggest even one vegetarian/vegan option as I know if I travelled with my two daughters we all wouldn't be able to eat here.

So thankful to Anne Marie who managed to squeeze us into her superb restaurant due to cancellation. We had the very intimate outside area at the back of the restaurant all to ourselves. Each one of us were very pleased with our dishes of choice......Langoustines, mussels, squid as starters and monkfish and hake for main course. Each dish was a delight. Wines chosen were superb also. Thumbs up from all five... And it's not easy to please this five😀. We will be back.More

One of the best meals we had - in fact it was so good the first night we went back another night. The mussels were exquisite, the hake sublime, the desserts delicious. I also think the staff were all excellent and the gentleman who was...our waiter on the first night was a real professional.More

My partner and I always love to eat at Max’s when visiting Kinsale. We were unable to book in advance, but fortunately we were very lucky to get a cancellation on the day we arrived in Kinsale. Ann Marie is so welcoming and an amazing...host, making the whole dining experience an absolute pleasure. The food is superb. I had the sautéed squid and prawns, followed by the fillet of Hake, and my partner had the pan fried langoustines, followed by pan fried John Dory and Monkfish. Both courses were absolutely delicious. Ann Marie was super kind in letting us sample a wine to accompany our meal before we made our decision. Plus, we had dessert, with two unbelievably amazing dessert wines; I loved the chilled Cahors Château du Cèdre Malbec! Max’s restaurant is one of the best in Ireland - and I can’t wait to return!More
