Just spent the weekend with friends and family at the Mountain House. Staff have been so welcoming and worked so hard to accommodate us. Lovely evening meals, great selection at the bar and 'the best Guinness ever'. Brilliant undercover outside area where we could relax...and enjoy our evenings. Thanks to all the staff for your efforts and a fab weekendMore

Group of 8 had dinner. Lovely atmosphere and very nice staff. We had burger, veggie burger, fish n chips and some kids meals. All were very good. Had brownie and crumble deserts and they were delicious. Coffee was a bit too strong for me but...drinkable. Lovely evening in a lovely place.More

We booked this as we were staying nearby - we enjoyed it so much that we booked another night before we came home. Although they were very obviously busy with a wedding party on both nights we received great service , all staff very friendly...and the food was fantastic .More

The food was delicious and came out with no delay. Service was SO friendly and nice. Loved the Lamb Shank but star of the show was the Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble — incredible flavors and lovely presentation. Mags took our order and she is a real...sweetheart, but the whole team is wonderful and the meal was just a pleasure.More

I’ve reviewed The Mountain House before and had good things to say about the excellent food, service, and staff. I now want to say that if you happen to be in the vicinity on one of their ‘Pizza Nights’ (usually Bank Holidays but not always),...be sure to get yourself up there. They’re great pizzas - lovely thin crispy base and a range of toppings. I like the pepperoni plus mushrooms and blue cheese, but you can design yours to your taste. The spacious garden is an ideal spot for families to enjoy sharing pizzas or you can eat in the cosy pub with a drink. If you’d prefer to have a pizza party at home, you can call in and have a beer while you wait to collect the piping hot pizzas in their boxes. Whichever option takes your fancy, take my word for it, you won’t be disappointed.More

I was in town to visit family from California and we decided to visit after reading their excellent web site and online reviews. After one meal and a night out drinking with the locals.......I'm hooked! This is the kind of place you hear about in...Ireland where the locals are welcoming, the beer is cold, the food is amazing, and the `craic`is off the charts, it had it all! The menu is small(less is definitely more here), fresh and focused, we devoured several of the appetizers to start with. I can still remember every bite, the flavors exploding in my mouth, every taste better than the last. I had the freshest and tastiest clam chowder in my life here, it had 4 or 5 large size shrimp in there, you NEVER get that in the states, ever! The tender steak was cooked to perfection with delicious hand cut fries and fresh veg. Dessert was a warm fudge brownie and ice cream to round off one of the funnest evenings served in their warm and cozy dining room annex. After the meal we stepped into the crowded bar and had a drink with several of the patrons who welcomed this `yank` with open arms, and made me feel like one of the locals in no time at all. From top down this place is extremely well organized. From the well laid out and extremely informative web site, to the friendly and attentive staff, the cleanliness, the parking, this place had it all. If you find yourself in West Cork, do yourself a favor and make the spectacular and scenic drive to visit the Mountain House......I guarantee you won't regret it!More

I’d definitely recommend the Mountain house. The menu is a bit different to anywhere else, food the delicious and the service was friendly and efficient. We ordered the chowder to start (amazing) and the swordfish special and the prawn and monkfish pasta special for mains....Both were so tasty and well presented. We shared the Apple and walnut cake for dessert which was amazing too. Definitely recommend.More

Dined in The Mountain House last night. Everything about our experience was wonderful. The monkfish and prawn curry is delicious with lots of local vegetables. The service from Danny and the two sisters is so welcoming and friendly, we can’t wait to go back. My...husband loved the chocolate ganache dessert and I was very happy with the apple and walnut cake. Next time we’re going to try all the other desserts 🤣More

Dined here last Saturday night. After receiving a warm welcome, we had pre-dinner drinks in the bar where the owners sister informed us bout the sights and sounds of West Cork. Dinner was fabulous from the breaded scampi starter to monkfish and monkfish & black...sole special, the food is fantastic. Nice selection of wines to accompany the meal. So impressed, booked it for another two evenings on our week long stay in West Cork.More
