We came here on Monday as a group of 6 for a special occasion. We had a table booked for 7.30pm until 9.15pm as per current time restrictions. Staff were friendly on arrival, and we were given menus quickly. We were asked for our covid...certs and the QR codes were quickly glanced at with no check if the names were correct. It took 3 separate requests to staff members to know what dishes contained gluten, as my dad is allergic to gluten and there were no allergen indicators on the menu. Eventually a staff member came over to explain they don't have allergen menus for 50% off Mondays, so she had hand-marked which dishes were gluten free. This didn't give my dad much time to decide on what he wanted as orders were being taken at that point. Starters were served within 15 minutes and were nice, although the arancini balls could have had more sauce as they were quite dry. We had to wait at least 45-55 minutes for our mains to arrive however. Most of us ordered the short rib beef and while it was nice, the top of the beef was very hot and the piece closer to the bone at the base was lukewarm, suggesting it had been under hot lights to keep it warm for some time. The mains are quite small with only additional garnishes, so potatoes and vegetables have to be ordered separately and sides are not included in the 50% discount. When the mains arrived at 9pm I checked we weren't going to be asked to leave the table at 9.15 as per restrictions and we were told that wouldn't be necessary. The bottle of red wine which we ordered for the table came out chilled, which meant it didn't taste of much, and didn't warm up much during the meal. We explained this when we paid and the person advised it may have just come out of storage where it's colder, but for a restaurant of Bon Appetit's standard, I'm surprised they are not better prepared for red wine to be served at room temperature. Overall the food and staff were nice but the long delay to the mains wasn't ideal.More

Early dinner with the three teens on our annual Christmas visit to Dublin at a difficult time for hospitality workers. After an initially cool reception because we were a few minutes early, and a little conflab over the vegetarian option, we were dubious…HOWEVER, the food...was beautiful for the most part, the starters were amazing and the two rib eyes that came to the table were perfect…plates wiped clean. The pork belly was cooked perfectly and even the vegetarian was happy. The desserts were too much for us so we just tasted the one but it was a delightfully chocolatey tart where the spoonful was just enough. The wait staff were lovely and the evening was one to repeat, very happy that we stopped by.More

Had looked forward to this meal since lockdown, as had followed Olivers restaurants online during pandemic, did cookalongs, his brown soda bread is now a staple in out house. Booked for 5pm , 2 adults 2 children. Given choice of table and picked lovely one...beside window with sofa chair. Ordered water for myself and wife, and ordered 2 Mocktails for children. Jug of water arrived with no ice, room temperature, waited 10mins for the children's drinks after being reassured they were on the way, they were only Shirley temples so nothing too outrageous. Chose the Christmas menu which looked fab, and as shown online we were really looking forward to it. Eldest child was having an adults mains and youngest decided on chicken goujons with mash, veg and gravy. Starters arrived Duck & Goats Cheese, both tasty, but carrots for goats cheese were dry, no glaze or dressing which was odd. Starters were cleared, and we then waited 35minutes for our main courses and children's food to arrive. We were assured twice that it was on the way, restaurant was busy but we had been the 1st table into restaurant at 5pm and ordered 2nd in the room. Main courses arrived. Child's main course chicken - for some reason they had little gnocchi but seemingly lots of pepper stew to use up as it fillets the bowl under the chicken and tomato sauce tasted burnt unfortunately. Cod mains - really poor, salad leaves on side, no dressing on the leaves, lemon & aoili no where to be seen, fish cake under cod was nice, presentation was more pub grub than pictures on line that sold the dish to us before hand. Rib eye steak - should have ordered different mains, really poor steak, some sauce underneath and that was it, ordered it medium rare, cooked to that point but stone cold for some reason. Sides - parmesan fries - string chips in a bowl which had dried out and stuck together with a dusting of parmesan cheese on top poor. Sugar snaps with sesame seeds - over cooked, brown and just covered with seeds but no flavour Youngest goujons were ok, but mash potato was split and gravy cold. More water ordered for table once again room temperature no ice in glasses or in jug, unless the machine is broken why would you not serve ice with water? Desserts Chocolate Tart - nice but not the deep Chocolate flavour I was expecting, raspberry ice cream was delicious but presentation was poor vs. online pictures Apple crumble - very nice lovely flavours , simple presentation. Children's profiteroles - were lovely. Wanted to have a coffee and tea with dessert but felt we were being rushed out at that stage. The restaurant was very busy as were leaving with a few larger parties but we had looked forward to this meal and the occasion for a long time and felt service, food and presentation does not match up to Olivers high standards on his media pages. So disappointed as had hoped this was the gem we had been expecting.More

We have just visited this establishment and it was a dreadful experience. Mediocre food, really poor wine list and we were in such uncomfortable surroundings that we had to leave after less than two hours without finishing our wine. This has never happened to us...before. When we brought this to the attention of the manager his reaction was unbelievable. He said that this was not his fault it was the restaurant owners issue. Extremely poor value for money, poor experience and as Malahide residents we will not be returning to either Oliver Dunne restaurants in the village.More

The food was lovely. Good quality, plentiful and well presented. The service could have been better though. The front of house person was loud and initially appeared a little forceful but she never came back to see how were getting on. The young waiter was...inexperienced and not well trained e.g. when asked for a clean cup with the fresh pot of tea, he literally brought a cup only and no saucer! No one checked did we need anything and we had to ask staff passing through to the kitchen when we required anything.More
