Lovely meal

There is not much choice in Ballyshannon so hoping for a good meal. We weren't disappointed, nice ambience and tasty food. Service good also. Wife and one son had tge burgers very flavoursome. Other son enjoyed his chicken strips. I had the Sea bass very nicely cooked and presented. Desserts were of a high quality. Only down side was for such a fine menu children is still chicken, burger, sausage with chips etc like most restaurants.

Best in Ballyshannon

Great night out in the Nirvana restaurant, prices are very reasonable and service was attentive and friendly, but not overwhelming. The food was fantastic, chicken fajitas and tempura plaice stood out, will have to try the steaks next time which looked lovely. Open 7 days a week as well, this place is a gem!!

Tasty wee place of the Main Street

The reason it got 4 stars is the premise was cold on arrival at 6pm ( it doesn’t open at 17:30 as stated on trip adviser ) I had the Chicken supreme and better half had the fish and chips. Have to say very tasty. We were served by Anastasia who was very polite, moving us to a warmer position etc. I recommend Nivana, but leave to a bit later if weather is cold

Extremely disappointing

In comparison to the elegant aesthetics in the restaurant, the food was really disappointing. The steak was of very bad quality ,distasteful and tough . I also felt the menu was overpriced . I told the waiter my thoughts , and was still faced with full price although I ate a mere quarter of the meal (The New York State Platter) for €25. The pint of Heineken was also poor . In summary , the worst factor is that I felt I was dismissed due to my age of 18 .

Came here with a group of 16 people last week. From start to finish the entire group felt like a burden. Despite being polite and patient, ever member of staff made us feel unwelcome. Every member of staff is EXTREMELY rude and I would advise they all look for a new job as hospitality definitely doesn’t suit them! As the biggest group in the restaurant and racking up quite the bill, blunt encounters with staff and forgetting entire drinks orders is not acceptable. Food was nice but nobody asked us so I can’t imagine they care too greatly!! Avoid and give your money elsewhere ☺️

Very cold.

This was our second visit to this establishment. As others stated in their reviews, the place was very cold, the wait for food too long and some of the food was 'gloop'. We got fish, that neither looked or tasted of fish. It had no flavour at all. the few tiny chips with it were a pathetic offering. There really were no redeeming qualities at all.

Meal lovely, some staff could do better

Arrived here around 7.15 on 24 August on recommendation of the owner of our Guest House. Initial impression was good, seated quickly even though we hadn’t booked, decor and ambience good, served with menus and water quickly order taken and bottle of wine presented, a bit of banter with owner was ok but we had to wait quite a while for our food which was ok, except, the place was very cold, air con seemed to be on very high and we became very cold, other people also,turning their collars up or putting jackets on, we asked the waitress if the air con could be turned down and she said she’d see to it, people at table across from us also agreed, after about 15 mins it was obvious this hadn’t happened so when owner asked if everything was ok my husband said it wasn’t, we were very cold so he said, ok I’ll turn it off, and shouted back to us as he walked across the restaurant, ‘it’s very warm when you’re working, I’ll turn it on again when you leave’, not really the way to treat customers. Who do you Cater for, the staff or your customers, we shouldn’t really have to sit with a coat on in a restaurant near the end of August. And before you say, as you have to other reviewers, that you hate people who give bad reviews online when they haven’t complained in person, please be clear, I did complain in person, twice, and didn’t expect the attitude I received, in fact it was obvious for the rest of the evening you avoided us. Believe me, I wanted to give a good review, the food was excellent, despite the wait, but I’m afraid, in good conscience, the attitude meant that I couldn’t score any higher.

4 members of my family including my 86 year old Aunt travelled from Northern Ireland to Ballyshannon for a 2 night stay on Friday 19th August. Our family originates from there and it was a little reunion for us. I suggested that we book Nirvana for dinner on our first night, it was within walking distance of where we were staying, it has great reviews and it seemed the perfect choice. It was closed and understandably so due to a bereavement. I was told this when I went into the restaurant on Saturday night to find out what had happened. My issue is the lack of communication. I've been told that I was phoned on the 18th but my call records from that day do not support this claim. I was told that a post had gone up on the owners Facebook page but I don't see it. A simple notice in the window would have explained everything. We has to very quickly find an alternative after our long drive and it was not the delicious food we'd expected in Nirvana. Really disappointed.

Lovely meal

We had a lovely meal in this restaurant in the main town in Ballyshannon. One of the few places where you can eat in the evening. Service was friendly and quick. We had our meals served quickly despite there being a big group in. Starter of spicy prawns (very hot) and main courses of burger and chicken fajitas. Very good range on the menu. Would highly recommend

Superb food, wonderful attentive staff and a lovely atmosphere. Couldn’t praise this place highly enough on all fronts. Food was outstanding, portion sizes were perfect and a great selection on offer from the menu. Would highly recommend.

"Absolutely Fabulous"

Those of a certain age may remember a BBC 2 sit-com from the early 1990's called "Absolutely Fabulous" - well that also describes Nirvana! We were a group of 8 fellas escaping our better halfs for the weekend. We booked / dined on Friday 7th July. We immediately booked the Saturday night too. It was exceptional on both nights: the quality, the quantity and especially the staff. We had a great time and hope to be back soon!

An unexpected gem!

We stumbled upon this place by chance and we’re so happy we did! The food was delicious! The atmosphere was lovely, calm snd relaxing. The people were just amazing! Great service! Treated us like old friends. We had an amazing experience here! Thank you Declan and crew!

Had Sunday lunch here today. Absolutely fabulous. Could not fault anything. Food was amazing. Full of flavour and beautiful choices. Well done to new management and new chef. First class.

Delicious food.

At the recommendation of our host at our super-nearby AirBnB, we made a booking ahead of time - I did it through Facebook Messenger and it was super quick and easy. Dinner was delicious and the staff were wonderful! And you must get the desserts. Highly recommend!
