Nipped in here for a quick cuppa and a snack. Friendly staff. Good value. Nice window seats. Was sitting near the shop part and was glad I bought the homemade oaty brown bread - so delicious and healthy too.

First off, Like mentioned in another review of Heifer & Hen, there should be two separate entries for this place. Heifer & Hen is by day a Café, bakery, deli & meat counter on the ground floor. And a restaurant by night on the upper floor. We ate in the restaurant as group of 5 in November. Given the time... More

We stopped here for a coffee and some cake, because the cake looked quite delicious. The staff is friendly and it is really beautiful furnished. Unfortunately the cake looks better than it tastes and the cafe is rather on the pricey site: a coffee (americano), a tea and a piece of cake for more than 10 EUR.

I came here with a large group of friends for dinner. The staff was professional, friendly and made us feel valued. They had a table set up for us but when another part left, they offered to move us to the nicer table, which was very thoughtful. The food was superb. Portions are large and I was stuffed to the... Was visiting Ballina and dropped in for a coffee while my wife was doing done retail therapy next door!! Shopping attempt was disappointing so she joined me for coffee after a few minutes!!! We enjoyed the cappuccino's. The food menu looked terrific and so did any servings we saw being presented to fellow diners. The place was busy. The staff... More

Always a good place for breakfast/ brunch/ snack or lunch ( downstairs). Friendly staff, good food and reasonable prices. One problem I have is that the door slides open and closed as people come in, and there is a really cold breeze around the feet!

I have dined at this restaurant several times and have yet to be disappointed in any way. Everything is consistently top-notch and in the most comfortable environment. On receipt of this request from TripAdvisor I did trawl through all of the recorded reviews because I was astounded that its overall rating within Ballina town only puts it at 14 whereas... More

Heffernan's Butchers was established in 1961 by John Heffernan at Convent Hill Ballina. His son Anthony carries on the proud family tradition today, developing the business into a fine food emporium including the Heifer and Hen restaurant which offers fine food, excellent service, elegant surroundings, select wines and classical music. We have won many awards over the years from the Retail Excellence Award - Top 50 stores 2009 and 2010 to Georgina Campbell Award, Ulster Bank Business Achievers Award and were nominated for Best restaurant Award 2013. We are all about getting to know our customers. As well as providing top quality and fully traceable food we strive to do everything possible to make you feel welcome and comfortable. As you can tell food is what we do, Fine Food. All food in our delicatessen is prepared by our staff in house. Our policy is to source all our foods and ingredients from local suppliers and to prepare everything in our own abattoir, kitchen or bakery. We make homemade scones, cakes, breads, desserts, tray bakes. We believe in supporting our local community and many of our customers are also our supplier. We view business as a circle - "what goes around comes around". We support our local community/customers, and our local community/customers support us.
