Cracking food'great service'fun atmosphere your wish is our command :)here at bar square customer is king(queen):) we provide top notch food in a fun easy going atmosphere'opened 7 days a week we serve lunch with fantastic daily specials from 12-4 followed by our delicious local sourced a la carte menu from 4-9. Great kids menu also available. We have a late bar 3 nights over the weekend with DJ's playing every Friday and Saturday & some of the biggest bands in the country play live and loud every Sunday till late check out our website for all menu's and up and coming gigs :)

Good food- menu never changes

We were staying in the area and visited this restaurant twice . My local family were hesitate because they said food is great but menu never changes. We thoroughly enjoyed our food which was served both times by pleasant attentive staff. A tad dear for what we received, but again was served hot and delicious. A lovely fire was on both days beside us . There is limited tables and some of them are quite high for elderly people to climb up onto the high chairs. There is street parking available and a big car park at the back. However for Elderly or walking impaired the back entrance is a non runner, use the front.

We attended here for dinner, there was 6 of us and the staff were very attentive and friendly. Fergal and Ethal were our two servers and we all agreed they were brilliant. There was a slight mix up with the order and Fergal dealt with it very efficiently and professionally. The food was great as we booked on the steak night and the steaks were very tasty and plenty of food. The meal was very reasonable and we will definitely be back on our next visit to Ballina. Would definitely recommend this place.

Excellent service great meal

Myself and my wife ate here on the 25th July 2020 and was the first restaurant we have been in since lockdown. Service was excellent and I had the chicken curry and my wife had prawn stir fry with noodles. Complements to the chef and staff.

Gluten free choice

Rang up Bar Square on Friday evening, hoping to get a table for later that day. The staff were very helpful and booked us in explaining the covid restrictions that applied. The steps taken here to keep everyone safe was evident, from paper menus to hand sanitizer on each table. The menu was large and varied with gluten free dishes clearly labelled. The staff were very friendly and helpful in assuring gluten free dishes. I had gluten free chicken burger (including gf burger bun) with chunky chips. The restaurant itself is well decorated and even has a lit mirror in the bathrooms. Would recommend this venue, great to have knowledgable helpful staff and so many choices of gluten free dishes.

Worst meal ever

Recently had meal in Bar Square. Sister ordered 2 different cocktails from menu and they didn't have them. The mint in mine was not fresh and brown. Very limited menu. Chicken was tough and placed on a bed of dry mash and grey matter which I can only assume was meant to be Mediterranean vegetables. Worst meal I have ever had out. I have often eaten here and food was fab. All our meals were tasteless. Dessert very small and cake not fresh for price. On a positive note staff very friendly and helpful. Very disappointing

Lovely lunch

We had a lovely lunch here as a family. They have a lovely menu and we were just sorry that we had somewhere else booked for dinner as there were loads on the menu we would have like to try. What we did eat was very tasty and the food coming out from the kitchen looked great too. Definitely a restaurant is like to come back to.

Good food in a modern-designed atmosphere, relaxing lunches

This is a modern-looking establishment, that seems it was refurbished very recently and with taste, with 'diner'-style sofas. The place was near-empty for a (very) late lunch. Staff were all readily available and the menu was rather large but enticing. The wait was reasonable and while the food was not extraodinary, it was still very good, well presented and satisfyingly tasty. This is not haute cuisine, but it is still a very nice place to stop for a (big) bite to eat and while away an hour or two in comfortable surroundings. Definitely a place I would visit more regularly if I lived in Ballina.

I just want to say that the food in bar sq is lovely and very consistent however the supervisor or manager, I’m nearly sure her name is Margaret is a rude condescending individual. Extremely unhelpful. I’d never write a negative review about any establishment but I had two encounters with her both where she was short and abrupt . She seems unhappy in her job and that isn’t at the fault of paying customers. It’s a shame that one person can let down a whole place because I won’t be back. Shout out to the other staff who seem really hard working!

stopped here off the hoof really and what a surprise. very safe as all staff were covid compliant. prompt drink service, and a nice pint too... food was hot, delicious and prompt. all in all good value for money and very centrally located.

Fantastic new menu & great service :)

Went to Bar Square this evening for dinner. The new bar menu is fantastic, great selection and everything we ordered was well presented & tasted just as great as it looked! Great service also, the staff are really friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Apologies, I forgot to leave a tip as I was rushing to pay the bill but will get you next time, will definitely be back :)

Really enjoyed the night. The bouncing staff were lovely they let me and my friends who didn’t have ID in. Nowhere else in the town would let us in so it was a relief to finally be let in. We were celebrating my friends 16th birthday and we were given free shots which I thought was a lovely touch🎉☺️ Will be back!

Service and food completely unacceptable

Terrible service on a very quiet (so no excuse) evening. Menu is terrible,confusing and completely random. Food itself was below par and together with the awful service was completely unacceptable. Shame as it was warm, comfortable and cosy but not somewhere I would recommend or wish to return to

Flat lifeless drinks!

Visited for drinks early afternoon and the Guinness and Moreti was totally flat and lifeless to the point where we left half of them. The place looked decent but would not go back for drinks again if they all taste like that! Thanks but no thanks..

Private Party Hire

Good late night bar!

Visited for drinks on a Thursday while on holiday in Ballina. While inside was pretty empty, there was a good crowd in the smoking area outside, and the dj was very good. They had Thursday night drink specials which were excellent value.
