Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

4 adults and a child fed & watered for 157euro. I had the sea food platter which was approx 31euro, not sure how that price fairs against other restaurants but i thoroughly enjoyed it and thought the price was fair. Very friendly and helpful staff,...beautifully decorated interior with all the Christmas lights etc. Will be back for sure next time we're over.More

I'm not sure if there was a reduced daytime menu on because it was Heritage day but based on what our options were, I would question this place being a "seafood" restaurant. Our waitress wasn't all that pleasant or friendly but it was busy so...maybe she was under pressure. I ordered a goats cheese salad that was more like a dessert, sweet and creamy. I've not had one like that before & I found it a bit sickening. My mother had cod and chips, she liked the cod but the chips were greasy and not nice. My daughter had chicken and chips which was nice but again the chips were floppy and oily and below standard for a restaurant. Overall, it was only middlin' and I left feeling a little disappointed. It's a nice place though and I'll give it another try sometime when it's less hectic.More

From the moment I entered the place, the bar man [sorry didn't get his name] was very helpful, he gave me the menu. I told him my wife and children in car. He went to restaurant and reserved a table for us. In the restaurant...we had absolutely wonderful food served by excellent staff. This place is brilliant. I had the most amazing Seabass with salad and chips. Definitely will be a return visit in the future.More

Expected to be MUCH better based on reviews, but just okay. Husband had cod & chips with mushy peas… skimpy and not as good as store brand cod we have at home, unseasoned large chips and awful powdery tasting peas which I usually adore. Me...splurged for seafood platter which came with stale brown bread and a very tiny salad. Smoked fish nice, mussels the tiniest and fewest ever served in a lovely cream sauce, one cod goujon like husband’s, bitty frozen shrimp doused in Marie sauce not restaurant worthy, two crab legs very dry for €35… but not even filling. Very disappointed as expected a special meal.More

Slightly below average pub fare and disappointing seafood options ( as we found throughout our Ireland visit this time) Seafood platter had battered fish and a fish cake which was hardly what you'd expect! Some unpleasant tasting , presumably bottled sauces as accompaniment on the...plate. My Caesar salad was ok and nachos were tasty though the guacamole sauce hadn't seen an avocado in its life, given the odd and unpleasant taste. Disappointing overall though it seemed the only choice in the area. Given quality of the food, didn't bother with dessert. Nice people serving.More

Had a meal here on advice from one of the locals while on a fishing trip with two others friends .. On a good note the Decor is really nice , spacious and boutique interior decorating . I ordered the Sea bass while the others...had the Tagliatelle and Roast beef. Firstly we had to wait 45 minutes for our food to arrive.. when I asked the head waitress why it was taking so long at around the 40 minutes mark, she just said they were busy with a birthday party in the middle of the restaurant and will get to us soon.. This was at 8pm and while it was busy there seemed to be enough staff on to cope..we were asked 6 times by 6 different waitresses if we wanted Another drink while waiting on our food to arrive.this got actually tiresome.. I know that restaurant need to sell alcohol to make a profit but this was verging on the ridiculous.. The Sea bass was way over cooked and dry.. I had the Sea bass in another local restaurant last year and it was probably the best Sea . bass I've had in years.. Both my friends said their meals were bland and very disappointing..roast beef very dry.. We didn't complain at the time because we were just relieved to eat and get out of there and also the price was reasonable which was a blessing..( price reflected the quality) I would prefer to pay a bit more for better food.. Hopefully this was just a blip and we were just the only people to have a meal which wasnt up to the Talbots standards...More

We stayed at the Talbot Hotel for two nights, then two nights at another hotel for a family wedding. The Talbot was the better stay, for sure. While at the Talbot Hotel, we had the convenience of walking downstairs to the Talbot Seafood Bar &...Restaurant for dinner and drinks. This was convenient during the rainy October weather. We also came to dinner here one on the non-wedding night. Over the past decade during trips to visit family in Belmullet we have made the Talbot Restaurant our dinner location of choice, and we were not disappointed this year. The food is excellent, the drinks good, and service and staff very friendly. Special thanks to Brian the bartender, who is a wonderful gent and great to talk about football with, especially EPL. I watched several EPL matches there and enjoyed several Guinnesses with his friendly input on the games (YNWA). Our food choices included the burgers, panini sandwiches, fish specials, some wings, and each time bowls of the seafood chowder (absolutely amazingly good), All dinners were fantastic and the Talbot Bar and Restaurant is worth visiting if you are staying at the hotel or anywhere in town. We highly recommend this bar & restaurant.More
