Under new management since around a month ago. We visit the village often, have family and friends there. Tides has had a complete makeover, in all aspects. The menu is still under construction and the new managers/owners are taking ideas on what to include. Great...way to meet the needs. As of 2 weeks ago they were only serving coffee/tea/non alcoholic drinks and desserts/cakes/ice-cream. But as I said, the full menu is being worked on. Looks great and hopefully this place will successfully work out the formula to keep a lovely seaside village like Ballyheigue and visitors happy for a long time. Lots of tourists pass here and there is plenty of car parking. I've given it a 'very good' as I only had tea and cake there and don't know what the menu will be at this stage.More
We visit Ballyheige regularly and this time on arriving we noticed the building had changed from the tea room to Chinese take away. We decided to order having seen the extensive menu and my wife, being a vegetarian, was equally impressed. I always look forward...to visiting here and will be on the phone again next time we're there.More
Had lunch and this cheerful cafe was small but very sweet. The staff were so nice and helpful. The chips were lovely and plentiful but the fish was not home done.
Staying in Banna beach resort drove to Ballyheigue (10min) festival in full swing the village was buzzing decided to go to Tides Restaurant it’s situated on the green serving Asian food it was Fantastic I ordered duck in curry sauce fries on side , 1...very large burger and chips & 2 kids chicken curry / chips 4drinks tea & coffee €50 great value I will return during our week stayMore
Excellent food at a reasonable price. No liquor license. Could do with upgrading the interior. Beautiful views of the beach.
Very slow, very small and definitely not "asian ". This place is another Chinese takeaway simple as that. Typical unhealthy Chinese takeaway food that is only very average. Service from the kitchen is slow and the food is over priced. Not recommended.
The previous reviews refer to a restaurant under previous ownership . This is a Chinese restaurant and not that referred to in posts previous . And definitely the worst ethnic restaurant I've come across in Ireland. Was a sit-down , a few other diners and...also takeaways. Starter of chilli squid was ok but not awful. Maybe 3-4 out of ten. We ordered the Thai red prawn and Thai green prawn curries. What arrived was shocking. The bowl of red curry had sitting on it three large scoops of red curry paste - straight from a jar sitting on top. Clearly the cook who probably has no training or concept of what was required forgot to mix it in . Was vile to say the least. The green curry was worse. It looked like and tasted like slop. This restaurant is clearly winging it in a mainly tourist area by learning on the job. After moving the paste to the side it was clearly muck personified so we called the waiter who didn't appeared surprised at all and in fairness dealt with it well. He waived the payment & we went home hungry. Awful shambles of a place. Avoid. 0/10.More
Reminds me of the diner from home and away years ago. Tasty food with reasonable prices. Nice decor and a great view of the lovely seaside town of Ballyheiuge from the top of the street near the entrance to Ballyheiuge castle
lovely homemade food, friendly staff and reasonable priced, a little tight when it gets busy , but beautiful views if you can get a table ut side on a sunny day.
Fish and chips by the sea always taste good. Good for a snack or just a cup of coffee It's location affords views along the Ballyheigue beach. Behind it stands Ballyheigue castle. It's a simple restaurant in a beautiful location.
I recently went to Tides Cafe while staying on holidays in Ballyheigue. Excellent food and service. Very reasonably priced. Caters for gluten free diets. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Beautifully decorated and homely. Desserts mouth watering.
Thank you Tides for a lovely dinner with all my family in June 2016 while we were in Ballyheigue . Thank you
Just steps from our O'Neills Bed and Breakfast. and recommended by our hosts this little restaurant had a surprising varied menu , We had the delicious creamy seafood chowder with their Wholewheat Irish soda bread followed by the special that night, a delicious Tagine of...lamb simmered with spices, apricots and golden raisins, served over a perfumed couscous. They don't serve alcohol but we knew to bring out own bottle which we purchased in the village at Flahives liquor store. a relaxed , friendly restaurant ..a perfect meal.More
Quite a quirky little cafe overlooking bit beach and village. Great for people watching. We wanted something light to eat so this fit the bill exactly. Open till 8.30pm so handy if not looking for big meal. Staff friendly.
