A really lovely pub with fantastic modern accommodation on top. Had a delicious bacon and cabbage dinner in the bar with excellent service from Maggie. The room upstairs where we stayed was top notch and the breakfast was a proper irish fry up. Great overall...experience here.More

My new favourite restaurant in the area. We couldn’t get a table in Ballybunion so decided to try The Horseshoe bar in nearby Listowel. We rang ahead and booked a table and we are so glad that we did. The decor, the staff and the...food made it a great visit. The menu is extensive with great choice. Both myself and my husband struggled to pick as so many options took our fancy. I had the chicken Maryland and it was fantastic. Took a while to cook but I prefer that as it means it’s cooked fresh. My husband had the fish and chips and he cleaned his plate. The kids menu was lovely also and we had 2 empty plates which is always a great sign when it comes to the kids. The deserts were equally as tasty. We found it very good value for the 4 of us and we will definitely be returning again soon.More

We stop in this pub anytime we are in Listowel and just love it. It's such a lovely homely place and the food, drinks and staff are first class. It is great to see a bar taking the Covid threat seriously and the Horseshoe has...definitely made a big effort. We were asked to sign in on arrival and brought to a table in a booth. Food order taken first BEFORE any drinks could be served (This really impressed us ), then a great little touch, a bell on the table to press when we needed service. Also, the barman Diarmuid, a real nice fella.More

We often eat here and we are never disappointed. Decent wholesome food, generous portions, buit is expensive. 1 starter, 2 mains, 1 dessert 2 glasses of wine and 2 minerals could come to €90. This was in the bar. Lots of locals eat here and...you wont hear anybody complain, so if you are after a good meal, definitely call to the Horseshoe.More

Saw the menu as we walked past. It was the weekend of the food festival so every restaurant was busy. We could only get a seat at the bar but that was fine with us. We both opted for the curry and it was delicious!!...Would definitely recommend- lovely welcoming staff and yummy food.More

Had lunch here recently and it was first class. Although the place was very busy there was no delay. Staff helpful and pleasant. The menu is extensive and reasonably priced. Be sure to try the Bacon and Cabbage if on menu. It is outstanding!

This is a re-visit from a year or so. It hasn't changed any. The food is great. The staff congenial. I had a cold and missed a meal early in the week. They sent my wife "home" (the hotel) with a basketful of lemons, cloves,...brown sugar, and she picked up a small whiskey. This was for a homemade hot toddy. No charge. I don't know if it was the toddy or the good wishes but I felt better and was happy to thank them in person the next day. Thank You Meg ! You don't find friends like this every day. Enjoy YOUR visit. (Great menu ! We had lunches and dinners.) And the occasional drop in for a pint.More

My husband and I spent a week in Ireland with a group of friends and decided to ha e a day to ourselves. We drove through Listowel and decided to stay a bit and happily we discovered the Horseshoe Pub! It was late afternoon so...relatively quiet so we had our choice of good places to sit and we always love being close or sitting at the bar. We shared an order of fish cakes and they were amazing! We ordered the same thing at a different place the day before and it wasn’t nearly as good. We also had a couple of pints of Guinness which were perfect. The best part of the stay was the bartender Margaret Lynch, known as Mags. She was warm, friendly, helped us figure out what to order and also helped my husband in his quest to find his Irish ancestors. Mags made our day and we will definitely be visiting again when in the wonderful country of Ireland!More

All I can say was this is my 3rd seafood chowder on this trip so far and it’s AMAZING! The food came out very fast. My partner ordered their specialty sandwich and it was good as well!
