We ordered the scampi (€20) and checked wings (€10). The scampi was very average and came with limp chips and a bitter lettuce salad. The chicken wings were extremely bland, couldn't finish them. Nice atmosphere but a there are a couple of surly staff however....Will not be back.More
€27.50 for a lasagne and a pint of mi wadi orange for my lunch . Never in my life have i paid this price for a lunch . Never again ill darken the door .
The food was really good quality, well cooked and generous portions. The waiting staff were lovely and very polite. Couldn't fault it. The restaurant was very clean and comfortable.
Had drinks and dinner in the Horse Shoe bar over the last few day. Top class over all. Friendly service, good food and friendly staff. Spotlessly clean in every area. Mags, the lady behind the bar is so efficient and so informative about Listowel as...to what's happening elsewhere in the town and not afraid to promote it. We will definitely be back to Listowel and the Horse Shoe bar again. It's a lovely town! Top class.More
Had grilled hake and it was over done and didn’t taste fresh just came with chips On the way to the toilets had a look at other people’s food and looked pretty grim to be fair. Service was good though.
Myself and my husband ordered a takeaway of 'Roast of the day' and chicken mardi gras which is described on the menu as 'marinated chicken breast on a sizzling plate with rice and fries'. I appreciate you cannot have a sizzling plate with a take...away but the slop I got was quite awful. Bits of chicken with rice, courgettes and peppers in a slimy sauce. The roast of the day? If that was roasted that day in that bar, I would be shocked! never again, and they are quite costly also...More
Myself and my husband stayed in behans on the 27th of Oct for 1 night .It was a last minute booking and we were not disappointed. Met Diarmuid on arrival and what a gent he was .Nothing was any trouble for him .He showed us...to our room which was warm ,modern and spotless .Really lovely room .We went to the bar and had a drink and came back later for dinner which was served efficiently and with a warm welcome and chat .We had breakfast the following morning which was served by diarmuid and was really nice .Would highly recommend behans and diarmuid is a credit to the family business and should be incredibly proud of this wonderful place. Cannot wait to go back . Food was really tasty and very reasonable with a lot of choice .More
We spent three nights in Listowel at the (excellent) Listowel Arms and after the first meal in the Horseshoe we found ourselves unable to imagine eating anywhere else. Three nights on the bounce we were amazingly well looked after by the wonderful and charming and...welcoming Mags and her lovely team. The food was on the money - particularly incredible Irish stew and bacon and cabbage - drinks perfect, and general vibes just unimprovable. Go go go.More
A really lovely pub with fantastic modern accommodation on top. Had a delicious bacon and cabbage dinner in the bar with excellent service from Maggie. The room upstairs where we stayed was top notch and the breakfast was a proper irish fry up. Great overall...experience here.More
My new favourite restaurant in the area. We couldn’t get a table in Ballybunion so decided to try The Horseshoe bar in nearby Listowel. We rang ahead and booked a table and we are so glad that we did. The decor, the staff and the...food made it a great visit. The menu is extensive with great choice. Both myself and my husband struggled to pick as so many options took our fancy. I had the chicken Maryland and it was fantastic. Took a while to cook but I prefer that as it means it’s cooked fresh. My husband had the fish and chips and he cleaned his plate. The kids menu was lovely also and we had 2 empty plates which is always a great sign when it comes to the kids. The deserts were equally as tasty. We found it very good value for the 4 of us and we will definitely be returning again soon.More
We stop in this pub anytime we are in Listowel and just love it. It's such a lovely homely place and the food, drinks and staff are first class. It is great to see a bar taking the Covid threat seriously and the Horseshoe has...definitely made a big effort. We were asked to sign in on arrival and brought to a table in a booth. Food order taken first BEFORE any drinks could be served (This really impressed us ), then a great little touch, a bell on the table to press when we needed service. Also, the barman Diarmuid, a real nice fella.More
We often eat here and we are never disappointed. Decent wholesome food, generous portions, buit is expensive. 1 starter, 2 mains, 1 dessert 2 glasses of wine and 2 minerals could come to €90. This was in the bar. Lots of locals eat here and...you wont hear anybody complain, so if you are after a good meal, definitely call to the Horseshoe.More
Saw the menu as we walked past. It was the weekend of the food festival so every restaurant was busy. We could only get a seat at the bar but that was fine with us. We both opted for the curry and it was delicious!!...Would definitely recommend- lovely welcoming staff and yummy food.More
I hadn’t visited here in quite a while and ans surprised at how expensive it had become. The food was good.
