We have been to the Red Lion quite a few times and always have a great friendly welcome. The food is always excellent - good hearty pub food, presented really well, great value for money and the service is fantastic. We had a family celebration here in August for mum's 80th birthday and everyone had a lovely meal and we... More

Firstly, we have eaten here quite a few times before, and the food standard has always been good, hence our repeated trips. It was fine this time, as well. However, having noted the steak & ale pie now comes with mash rather than chips, when ordering I enquired if I it would be possible to have chips anyway instead. The... More

Decided to go here half way through an epic hike out on a cold day. Reviews looked great and we had all worked up an amazing appetite. Mistake. No children allowed. Was a disaster. Tears and tantrums. The kids too. Seriously, if you have kids, don't even bother. We ended up going to the local Post Office and shop. Lovely... More

Out for a walk over the dales with my wife and dog heading for Litton on our way to Tideswell when we came across this pub. Pub was full but managed to get seated as someone was just leaving. The pub is dog friendly with free treats and the staff were very friendly and chatty. Had a nice lunch in... More

We had a very nice meal and staff were very friendly. We both went for dinner and enjoyed it so much the first evening that we went back the following evening too. Highly recommend it.

Visited the Red Lion twice, once just for a drink which led to a booking for dinner. After a 5 hike up hill , down dale and across field with the dog we arrived at the pub. We were met with a warm welcome and a choice of 5 real ales, all excellent. The dog "Millie" settled in from of... More

Very nice dog friendly inn - perfect stop-off for walkers/cyclists at lunch or for a larger meal. We were on sandwiches/ploughman's/soup all of which were very good and the beer was enjoyed too! Larger meals which came to nearby tables also looked very good. Lots of history and atmosphere! Would love to return

I met up with a friend for dinner here one evening in the summer and had a great time. The landlady was very welcoming and friendly, the locals were good for a chat, and the food was excellent. We started off with a delicious homemade soup, then had lamb rump (my friend) and pork belly (myself) both of which were... More
