Family meal for a birthday with the kids and granddaughter. Management totally disinterested as two ladies were vomiting in the eating area. Also ignored by management were a group of fifteen drunken men shouting sexual comments at the young women. My complaint was ignored by...the management. Will not be returning, plenty of good eateries in the area.More

Whilst on a business trip in mid-covid ridden December, I was looking for a friendly pub, with good beer and food. I absolutely found it in the Wheatsheaf Inn! They were very friendly and accommodating, despite my calling so late in the evening. The beer...was superb and the meal excellent. A very interesting and delicious take on a prawn cocktail followed by superb locally sourced battered haddock and home cooked chips. Despite the restrictions covid brought, the pub was cosy, comfortable and the staff very friendly and welcoming. I look forward to returning, hopefully in happier, less restricted times and would not hesitate to highly recommend the Wheatsheaf Inn for an evening meal. Thank you all very much.More

They pub was lovely, everything stuck to the covid regulations and I felt very safe here. The staff were very attentive with drinks orders throughout the meal which was fab! The crispy prawn starter was lovely but I would have like a few more that...4 prawns if I had to be picky. The Sunday lunch itself was fantastic the bubble and squeak was the highlight and the lamb was cooked to perfection! The only downside was they gave us a small bowl of veg and a small bowl of cauliflower cheese to share between 3. I like a lot of veggies when I have a Sunday lunch ( which is why I order one) and it was a shame to only get 3 beans 3 slices of carrot and a few peas so I was a bit disappointed with that and confused to whyMore

Excellent lunch sat outside in 3 sided marquee. Not comfortable eating inside at present tried here as noticed the outdoor marquees when passing. Seemed to have good COVID 19 precautions in place. Prawns and black pudding starters really tasty, lamb faggots, sausage and cheese, leek...& potato pie all really good. Well presented. Dark choc and salted caramel tart with caramelised banana one of the best deserts I’ve had in a long time! All served promptly with a smile. All the staff we encountered were polite, friendly and efficient. Will definitely be back again soon.More

Fab little find in a beautiful village. Very friendly staff for which nothing was too much trouble. All COIVD guidelines adhered to which made us feel very safe. Food was fresh, served quickly and was completely outstanding. Highly recommend this pub

We were hurtling down the A75 in the pouring rain and fancied a tasty Sunday lunch, so did a quick TA lookup ... this place got good reviews so we booked a slot. A typical northern Pub from the outside, it was run extremely efficiently...inside by the bar master and a young lady (dark hair, ponytail). Covid security was taken seriously and we felt very safe to eat there. A typical Sunday lunch menu, with different roasts and a few alternatives from the grill. We opted for roast beef. The food we got was far from typical though. The whole ensemble was full of homestyle flavour, loads of crispy veg, lashings of tasty gravy and an extra jug of that too. It is so rare to get a Pub Sunday roast as tasty as this, at a reasonable price with super quick service. I rarely give 5 stars but the Wheatsheaf genuinely deserves this status ... thank you for a real treat.More

Booked a table at short notice on a Sunday. Fortunately we got in. If your after a top notch roast get yourself hear! Blumin lovley! Had 2 drinks, 1 starter, 2 mains and 1 pud for just over £40. Totally worth it. Sat outside in...the sun with the dog. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Didn't have to wait long for food at all. All covid measures are in place. Felt totally at ease being 5 months pregnant. Will definitely come again. 😊More
