Lovely National Trust site - House and Mill on site however option to walk around the gardens and woodland trails. We took the dogs and it was hassle free and a great run for them alongside the river. Parking was only £3 and then normal charges for entrance into the sites. The Edgecumbe arms serves amazing cream teas and a... More

We visited today expecting to spend about an hour and ended up spending the whole afternoon. Although there us no electricity in the house everything was well displayed. The staff were knowledgeable and some had very interesting views regarding the ghosts. It was lovely to chat with a member of staff about the weapons they had available to handle and... More

Had lunch at the Barn during a wonderful day at Cotehele. The food was tasty, hot and reasonably priced. The baked potatoes are a decent size and the cottage pie was lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Cotehele is not the easiest place to get to, but is well worth the effort. You will need at least half a day to explore all the different things on offer. The medieval house and below it a lovely garden which leads down to views of the Tamar valley. Walking on downwards you come to the Quay, where you can... More

£4.95 for a single scone cream tea. Small jam, small cream. Other local tea houses give you two. We asked why,to be told it's a charity. Fine, can't argue with that. Will go elsewhere for cream tea though. East Gate in Tavistock or Hurlers Halt over in Minions. Two scones with plenty of clotted cream and jam. Cotehele house and... More

Lovely place for a day out. Visiting the quirky house, the beautiful garden, the quay and mill will take half a day. Stop for a tea at the quay, short stroll to the mill, and take the shuttle bus back, especially the last 50 yards are worth it. A very nice historical place.

Cotehele offers plenty of interest in the house, but i think the real glory is the gardens, orchards, woodland and views of Calstock and the viaduct, the quay and of course the mill.Lovely fresh bread.

There is so much to see here. The house itself is fascinating with unusual items and history. The gardens are beautiful with a lovely walk down to the river and the pub at the quay. We had lunch there which was excellent. Quick service and good food. Then took the bus up to the mill which again is fascinating to... More

This is a beautiful National Trust property. The house dates from Tudor times and has a very interesting history. Good examples of tapestries and some fine beds. We took a 1 year old round the house and all the staff were friendly and very obliging. There was also an arts and craft exhibit and gallery. The restaurant food was good... More

Started our visit with lunch in the Barn. Lovely roast pork, apple sauce and beautifully cooked vegetables. Apple sauce and gravy. £9.95. Walked around the beautiful grounds and house. Took the free bus down to the Quay and walked to the Mill. Took the bus back to the house, very steep climb through the woods. Browsed the second hand book... More
