This cafe is simply delightful. Karen and Mark are fabulous hosts. The outdoor seating terrace looks over Lathkil Dale - just 5 minutes from the river. If you’re walking past or parked in Over Haddon you must call in for fabulous cake and a refreshing...drinkMore

Absolutely delightful couple with 3 gorgeous resident friendly dogs. Other dogs welcomed too of course. Oh and the cakes, tea and coffee were excellent. The lady was quite amazed that our men managed too pieces of cake each! (the slices are very generous) but it...was all so delicious they would have tried them all. My husband thought a badge might be appropriate as she did say few people ate two portions each. So funny - they really were lovely and we will be back on our next trip. Thank you.More

Thank you so much for giving us such a lovely review, we appreciate it very much. Definitely think a badge is called for when two pieces of cake are consumed and maybe a hall of fame section in the kitchen! We're so pleased you enjoyed...More

I have contacted both Tripadvisor and George to explain that this review has been posted to our business by mistake, sadly George's bad experience was at another establishment in Bakewell with a similar name to ours. As we are unable to remove the review we...More

We spotted this outdoor tea room in our walk down to the valley. Three hours later after a very warm walk we returned for drinks and cake. Karen and Mark are very friendly hosts and amazing cake makers! It was difficult to choose from the...range of cakes on offer, and we were not disappointed with our final selections. The portions are HUGE. We were offered the option to share a piece of ginger cake and each piece would easily have fed two, but the two who had chosen it decided they were up for the challenge! The location was stunning and the food and drinks were incredible value for money. The valley and walk along the river is fantastic, but it’s worth going to Upper Haddon just to visit The Garden Tea Room!More

Amazing cakes, lovely views, very kind service. We arrived with two hungry boys (1 and 4) and managed to get a rare few moments of peace as they tucked in to what they'd been given. I had the Bakewell (the best!) and my husband had...the Ginger cake. The one year old did manage to get scared by the totally unthreatening dog (his fault, not the dog's) so we beat a hasty retreat but I would have loved to have spent another half hour taking in the view!More

We called in for coffee after walking Lathkill Dale and sat on the lovely terrace overlooking the valley. There's a great selection of tempting homemade cakes to choose from and the coffee and cake we had were both delicious. The owners kindly recommended a place...for us to eat that evening and rang to book us a table. The meal we had at the Royal Oak Hurdlow was excellent too so thank you for arranging that for us!More

This is a really lovely spot to refuel if walking in the area (or even when driving round getting lost). We planned a stop here whilst walking in the area. Whilst the position and gardens were beautiful we can echo the views of a previous reviewer that we definitely felt we were imposing. The cakes looked good but given that the coffee was from a...Tassimo machine and there were no toilets we decided to purchase an ice cream and continue on our way.More
