We hadn’t booked but they found us a table for 2 on a rainy night last week, the restaurant was fairly busy. We only had poppadoms with pickles to start then I had Lamb Rogan Josh as it was described on the menu as a...‘real curry’ and one of their most popular dishes. Given this description I was expecting great things, however I was underwhelmed with the sauce being watery with very little spicing. I have had many better Rogan Josh’s in other establishments. One redeeming feature was the lamb which was extremely tender. My wife’s Chicken Paneer Mutter was ether than my choice but neither would make us rush back. We were disappointed given the previous good reviews, it was just ‘average’.More
We very rarely do reviews but feel that this is well deserved. Over many years we have dined in a large number of Indian restaurants but whilst visiting Bakewell we have managed to find a real gem. It was all covid compliant and the staff...were very attentive, informative and enjoyed a bit of banter. However, the most important aspect was the food. The presentation and the flavours were fantastic. On our next visit to Bakewell we will definitely be returning to Rajas for another really enjoyable experience.

A lovely chap greeted us and squeezed us in before a big booking. Yet we did not feel rushed, it was professional and perfect. The waiter rushed round to get us ice cold Cobras and rustle up the finest curry in the North. A claim...I do not make lightly given my curry life experience. The interior is classic curry house - authentic, basic, atmospheric. I had the paneer Korma - insane. My friend had the chicken madras which he described as stunning. My only feedback would be don’t cheapen yourself by offering chips and nuggets - you don’t need that and those who don’t appreciate the sheer quality of your curry should go elsewhere. This is a curry house for curry lovers and if you’re a curry lover this is a curry house for you. A beautiful experience and one I highly recommend.More
I’d definitely recommend this restaurant. Comfortable surroundings, helpful and efficient staff, and great food. Well worth a visit if you fancy a change from pub food in Bakewell ( not that there’s anything wrong with pub food of course!).
Food, service and atmosphere excellent, I made a mistake with my booking time and Raja’s phoned me to ensure we still wanted the table, when we arrived I could see why, it was packed out, all tables were in use. Would defo go again.
