Visited with my family for brunch. We thought eating early we would beet the lunchtime crowd so arrived around 11.25. We ordered 2 breakfast rolls, poached eggs on toast, crumpets and a round of toast. Nothing too complicated. After prompting the staff numerous times the food finally arrived just under an hour later, by which time we were all rather... More

Firstly i apologised for your trouble on the day secondly i deducted the poached eggs & crumpets of your bill & last but not least you were informed there would be a good 45 minute wait on your food which you agreed to. More

We visited this place as it seemed quirky - the tea rooms are up a flight of stairs. The lady who served us was extremely friendly and helpful, telling us the story of how the bakewell pudding came about by accident. We had the homemade broccoli and Stilton soup which was delicious, followed by the bakewell pudding, which was also... More

Byways was recommended to us by a local and it was well worth taking their advice. We both had the full breakfasts and they were very good. Generous serves, good quality ingredients, cooked properly. Coffee was great. I asked for and got a STRONG flat white ... many Cafs seem to not understand the meaning of 'strong'. Service was timely... More

Me and my partner have been coming here for few years now, ever since we visit Bakewell. It has gone down a bit! My chicken pie was good but only contained 3 pieces of small chicken. Its sad that I'm writing about this place like this.

We used to visit bejewelled regularly during my recuperation from a long illness, was a weekly treat and lunch at Byways was part of that visit. Since returning to work our visits are less frequent, so today we paid a lot awaited visit. How disappointing it was. The menu is much smaller, which is understandable in the economic climate but... Im sorry your visit didnt live upto expectations, we have cut the menu down, simply due to the size of the previous owners menu to the size of the kitchen & the eqipment we can house, but sincerely hope you can give us another try. If theres something specific you require we will try our upmost to accomodate More

I do apologise that you didnt enjoy your time with us, you should of been told on arriving that there was a wait of upto 30 minutes,as you have mentioned we were extremely busy, & as a result did run out of a few items. The item you chose off the special board should of been wiped off which was... More

I popped in here with a pal for a late breakfast which was a real treat. The food was beautifully cooked, especially the mushrooms, and was more than enough to satisfy two hungry blokes. Well done to the cooks and staff here! Will call again.

I have been in there twice this trip to Bakewell, the first time I have a sausage and bacon sandwich that did not turn out to be a sandwich instead it was a bun, but was nice as it tasted spot on with a nice cuppa of tea how it should be serviced in a pot with tea leaf. Second... More
