We have just returned from an overnight stay at this lovely bed and breakfast pub/restaurant. We decided to eat in and were so glad that we did. Service was excellent with polite staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I had the poached salmon which was divine and my partner had the beer battered cod which he struggled to finish as... More

Enjoyed a lunch here during a shopping trip, we did pre-book a table as the venue is rightly very popular and gets busy. We all enjoyed the food and there is an excellent menu and daily specials - we had the game pie, the ham hock pies and the fishcakes - all excellent. The game pie came with a superb... More

My husband and I stayed for one night at The Peacock to celebrate my birthday after visiting Chatsworth. Our only regret is that we didn't have time to stay longer. The atmosphere was intoxicating, the accommodation was excellent and the food was second to none. The proprietor was very entertaining and he and his staff work very hard to provide... More

All sounds Fabulous to me Nettgy, but thanks for posting your honest views on TripAdvisor as more people visit this site than you can only imagine. We like the hard work commendation as the staff here do work extremely hard under sometimes very difficult circumstances, but we attribute that down to how insanely busy the Peacock can and often is... Friendly pub with most of the area dedicated to dining. Good menu with generous portions served nicely. Visited on a Friday evening and managed to get a table without booking. Looks like frequented by the locals and a nice atmosphere.

There were 6 of us who were wanting a Sunday lunch before some of us headed home after a lovely weekend in the area celebrating my Mums 50th Birthday. I had read the reviews and other recommendations from people and decided we would try here. We didn't book in advance (I would definitely recommend booking) and turned up at 12.00.... More

Quaint old pub in the center of Bakewell right in front of big car park. Warm welcome and seated immediately. The Sunday Roast was amazing. Hot, well prepared and presented even though they had run out of Lamb the beef and turkey was really tasty. Would highly revcomend for Sunday Lunch. Serving staff were cheerful and helpful.
