What a wonderful hidden gem! Huge selection of wines, but also delicious dishes such as Flammi, which we all had. Cheeseplate was delicious asxwell as the traditional nut cake. We will most definetely come back. The weather was nyt the best but on a sunny...day it will be nice to sit outside. We are happy to recommend this cosy place. All tables were booked for Friday night so tablereservation is a good idea. Not expensive, limited menu and some dishes must be ordered In advance.More
Thank you so much for your nice words and positive review! Hope to see you soon again!
Schnizel on Thursdays is a must few times every summer and also the flammkuchen are very good. Excellent winelist too!!
Thank you very much for your positive review and welcome again next summer!
The view, the simple delicious food, grate wine, and the feeling of being welcomed and well taken care of; what a combination!
This is a true gem offering delicious food with a very beautiful view. Highly recommended, this kind of place is very rarely found in Finland. Food is delicious not to mention the huge variety of wines. We recommend the traditional flammküche :)
Nice located place on a hill. We were there with bikes it’s also possible to walk up there. Nice and friendly staff. The place served Flammkuchen - and typical Germn-Swiss plates of cold cheese ham. At the momwnt for our visit they had Italian weeks...and we orderd from that menu and it was a huge misstake , a big dissapointment. Winelist is broad and with a range of diffrend kind of european wines. The view is very nice and ypu can enjoy sunshine late in the evening.More
We were staying in Vilppula (Peltolan luomutila, recommended!) and the lady at the reception recommended this place as a good one. It was 10 km from our overnight place, but we decided to drive there. The location is a bit outside Mantta center, the final...gravel road is really steep and might be difficult to master in rain. Once up, the pavillion is nice and the view would be fine if not the trees had grown to obscure it. This, I understand, the establishment cannot change. As this was a monday night, the room was not full but several tables were occupied. I can imagine that on a good-weather summer week-end a booking would be advisable The wine menu was a surprise, an excellent selection of good German wines, accompanied with selected wines and spirits from other countries. Several were familiar and on those I could decide the pricing was quite moderate. The food choice is between flammkuchen (several varieties) and plates of small cheeses, fish and cold cuts. I was the driver, so no wine for me but the house could offer a non-alcoholic beer from Krombacher. It was surprisingly good, a real beer taste! My flammkuchen was also the genuine item, crispy and thin base with tasty cheese sauce and fillings, very good! My wife had a glass of wine and a platter, I had a taste of the wine and liked it, a good dry riesling from Nahe. The platter was fine as well, only the small meatballs were too dry. The service was friendly and the waitress was ready to explain the background of the food and wine to us. This we did not need but left very well satisfied and only wish this "gem from Germany" will flourish for years to come.More
this restaurant at the top of the hill was wonderful and we had totally authentic flamkuchen (a kind of thin crispy pizza). to no surprise the owner himself is swiss so knows how they should be prepared. The road up was a bit steep (you...can also walk up). Considering the generally poor choice of food in small finnish towns this was a great restaurant and highly recommended. The waitresses were very friendly and wore dirndl's (the type of outfit barmaids at the munich beer festival wear) which also contributed to a real alpine feel to the whole visit.More
Thank you very much for your positive review! We are happy and pleased to hear that the clime up to the hill was worth a visit and we managed to transfer you to the alpine feel in the middle of finnish forest. Hope to see...More
Nice small Wine-hut in middle of a small mountain called Mäntänvuori, next to Mänttä town. They serve coffee and pastries but also Wine and food. For the food they have Flammkuchen (kind of a pizza) and also raclette and fondue if you order beforehand. On...Thursdays they have Schnitzel-night. We were there then, and it was the best schnitzel I have tasted in Finland. I do recommend this place!More
Thank you Markus for your nice words and recommendation! We are happy and pleased to hear that our original schnitzel did suit your taste, as they usually do :-) Hope to see you soon on the top of Mänttä!
This place is one of those you only find when someone recommended it. It requires climbing up to a modest hill through marked paths that offer lovely views already on the way. Driving up is also possible, but will exclude the driver option of experimenting...the surprisingly interesting wine list of the venue. The owners get the wines through their own connections, and the menu contains several suggestiosn for tasting. The food is simple, but well made and tasty, and the service is friendly.More
Wonderful little spot up the hill. Lovely wine flights with great small plates and soup. Did not try larger plates or entree, but nice selection on menu.
We found out about this place in a brochure of the region and decided to give it a try on our trip. That was an excellent choice! We loved absolutely everything about this place; the wine, the food, the service, the atmosphere, the location...! We...are definitely coming back on our next roadtrip to the area - only this time we'll come by taxi and not drive ourselves.More
I've been a couple of times on work trips and it's one of only a couple of quality places in the area to get a decent meal. The climb up the hill to the restaurant is really worth doing, especially as that means you'll have...more of an appetite to try the delicious flammkuchen, Nordic tasting plates, fresh cakes, but especially the Elk in a Pot! Really lovely little place.More

Really interesting restaurant with a mix of German/Nordic food. Located at the top of a hill, a very small place, but great food. Small menu, but superb quality. Good selection of wine and drinks. Great find, €100 for 2 people.
