It was a rainy Summer's day so this was perfectly cosy(but also had loads of seating outside if sunny!!). From the moment we arrived (myself, my 2 sisters and my Mum!), we were pleasantly surprised by the numerous alcohol gel dispensers around the Cafe! The tables were really well spaced to allow social distancing, and fully wiped down during sittings. The best part for me as someone who gluten intolerant, was the extensive selection of gluten free food!! I even tried to buy the bread from my sandwich 😊 the desserts were by far the highlight, absolutely delicious...everyone was so happy with what they ordered and overall we loved the place!! Just a pity it is an hour from our homes but despite this we will definitely be back!! Keep up the good work and really friendly staff welcome!!

Lunch with a fabulous view, we arrived as a family of 3 adults and 3 children and sat outside to enjoy the view, the children had waffles which were a massive hit, us adults had a mixture of paninis and wraps and they were all delicious. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the nanny of the group said the tea was best around, and I can say the coffee was fab aswell. Can’t wait to visit again, keep up the good work, oh and I would like to add the facilities were all spotless.

Returning to Balbriggan from weekend in Dungarvan we opted to try out the Barrow Walk. We did a beautiful stretch from Graignamanagh to St Mullans and were welcomed in the this great place. Set in a beautiful location on the river we were quickly given a well sanitized table on the river bank. My meal was a delicious open sandwich and my wife had a chicken panini. For drinks my wife was very happy with her strong coffee while I had the unexpected bonus of a fresh chilled local cidar. Altogether a wonderful surprise of a day.

Just had a very disappointing lunch experience. Service appalling, waiting 15 minutes for someone to take our order even though there were various “untrained “ servers wandering around. Smoked salmon with salad consisted of a mound of lettuce from a bag with very little dressing and one tomato! Utterly tasteless and very bad value.

Stunning scenery and a great place to rest after a lovely walk along the river. I had the leek and potato soup, which was delicious, and my partner also had soup and then a wrap which was equally as lovely. There seems to be only one toilet, which wasn’t the cleanest, but they were super busy, so I completely understand that people are constantly using it and it’s difficult to keep on top of. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Seating available inside and out. We sat inside as no space outside, however you can request a table outside when it becomes available, as a couple did behind us. Loads of staff, so you aren’t waiting long to order or for your plates to be taken away. Will visit again when back on Ireland.

From the very start of our arrival I was pleased! Visiting from the US and staying in a small county I looked on here for places to visit that were local favorites. When we arrived the cafe was very busy with families running about and swimming while eating. Fun atmosphere! We snagged a table outside, service was great, server returned many times to check on us. Food was a bit pricey but the quality and size of serving made it ok. If you are looking for an outdoor dining experience this is the place. Bring your bathing suit if you would like to swim!

Absolutely amazing from the start. Dogs welcome. Heard so many people say great things about this place. All the seats outside full and a great vibe was felt. We asked for a table outside and got offered a table with our furry buddies inside as dogs welcome. Got to say it was a first for them. Manager on door excellent and so friendly. Our covid passes checked with due diligence and social distance. We were offered upstairs or downstairs. Another wow. The restaurant is an old Mill and it’s so clean. Service is outstanding with technology to the fore. Our order taken and amazed how quickly water was dropped to our table. Dogs also got offered water. Food quality, presentation and service could not be faulted. Your food delivered by a young energetic staff in a banquet style train all at once. Wow again.

Stopped in St Mullins this week for a light lunch. Staff friendly and bright and coping really well with Covid restrictions. The menu is simple but the ingredients are fresh and all dishes well prepared and tasty. As Mr Michelin would say "worth a detour". Well done.

An absolutely wonderful place to sit and have coffee (or something else) and a cake. The menu is very good, although I only indulged with cake, and well prepared. What I saw being served did entice me for a later visit. The building itself is worth seeing and the atmosphere created with its proximity to the river is just heavenly. Peace and quiet by the river; coffee and cake, what could be better on a sunny afternoon. Walking around the area holds history in suspended animation and an amble along the towpath brings nature closer.

Walked from Graignemanagh so ready to eat, beautiful setting, served promptly and efficiently by staff. The panini was as it should be with the cheese melted and great flavors. As per other reviews Martin was to be seen checking on guests and being a host. Keep up the good work.

We arrived in St Mullins Carlow and found the mullichain cafe right on the bank of the barrow river. It was in an amazing setting. We sat at one of the outside tables and were greeted by a very friendly server. We explained we had brought our packed lunch and picnic rugs but we would like to have coffees. There was absolutely no problem with this. The children wanted to swim in the ever and use the kayak. They supplied us with extra lifejackets free of charge. We enjoyed the experience so much we stayed and had more coffees and pizza when we were finished in the water. The staff were amazing from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble I even got a little history lesson from one of the younger girls. We enjoyed it so much we are heading back again in the next couple of days. Well done to everyone concerned

We had a delicious lunch here after a walk from graignamanagh along the Barrow to St Mullin’S.. inside the cafe is a very welcoming open fire and friendly staff and host. Everything on the menu was tempting but we settled on homemade soup of the day and a pasta dish. The coffee is good and we indulged in some home made cakes. You can also drive to St.MUllins. In fine weather there is outdoor seating beside the river.

We're lucky to live close to St Mullins and it's so nice to be able to sit in or out when going to the Mullichain for some tasty lunch, brunch or treats. Staff are always helpful and friendly. The walks by the barrow are lovely too.

This destination was recommended by fellow travellers. The location is charming, being a large old mill-like building down by the river which is banked all round with forestry. Beautiful location. We ordered two coffees and scones which arrived quickly. The scones and jam were average, nice but not excellent. However we were delighted to have been served so quickly, the staff were all working so hard and professionally. The hygiene levels for Covid seemed to be all strictly adhered to and overall I was impressed by them. I would not hesitate to visit again and try more of their menu. For such a busy tourist place it was clean and well serviced.

Staff were excellent, let down by food. Lettuce served with brown ends. Apple pie over cooked and a chunk missing. Ran out of strawberrys (not clever at this time of year). Also, the bill was not presented, just the final figure. Just needs some tightening up. Great location.

Hi Rongil Many thanks for your review we would have been happy to address your complaints had you raised them at the time of your visit to our Cafe .All our salads are freshly prepared every day and yes some lettuces do tend to discolor for that we apologies. Our apple tarts are baked freshly every morning as are our scones .We do not serve strawberries. Our customers are asked to pay at the cash desk where our staff go through the items that are served to the customer .I hope you will join us again as we would be happy to look after you Best Wishes Martin O'Brien Owner
