Great evening spent amongst friends. A chef who's main aim is to satisfy his customers in food and hospitality. The waiter was efficient, friendly and knowledgeable in his wine. Everything was homemade and fresh too! Will be back!:

We were a group of four. Plenty of others in the restaurant, service very friendly and professional. The food was cooked to perfection and extremely tasty. Very good value for money. I would recommend it to everyone. English is spoken well if you need it....A great night outMore
We have visited Le Chalet several times before, during visits to Royan and have never been disappointed. We had lunch a la carte and had a great experience. The welcome, the service and the surroundings were very good and pleasant.. The meal was excellent, in...particular the sole which was very fresh and well cooked. Very good presentation of the tasty dishes. The menu choices are varied and all at a reasonable price. An essential restaurant to visit in Royan if you don't want to be disappointed. thoroughly recommended.More
Having spent ages reviewing a lot of the places to eat here in Royan on TripAdvisor I picked this one, and wow! Despite it looking closed as we walked towards it we went over the road to check the menu on display. The menu had...a set price of 27e for 3 courses. A wide selection for each course which I translated roughly. On arrival of each course we were blown away by the quality and presentation and taste. We picked a very nice Entre Deux Mers to go with the food too. It seems completely wrong that somewhere with this quality was only less than half full whereas the harbour front places were almost full. We've been in France for a week and this is by far the best food we've had, even having stayed at some Chateaux.....More
We were staying just down the road from here at The Family Golf Hotel (also reviewed) and at this time of year, there was not much open. The set menus offer an interesting but small range of food and very different to the usual selection...normally found in the local sea-front restaurants. There were about 8 other diners already in when we arrived (about 7.30pm) and service was quick without feeling we were being rushed. The food, a fish starter followed by a meat and a fish dish were beautifully presented and extremely tasty. With a bottle of red wine and 2 coffees, the bill was just less than 70 euros. Would certainly visit again.More
Close to the beach opposite office de Tourisme, the menu at 25.90euros is very good,we were very pleased with the quality taste and presentation of the food. The reason for only 3 stars was the 18.50 euros we were charged for a 50cl pichet of...rosé wine, as we were leaving Royan after a 2 month stay my mind was on the packing up we still had to do,it was only the 16-10-15 the day we arrived back in UK I was checking the most recent card receipts I noticed the 18.50 I'd been charged for a 50cl pichet of wine, normally I check when paying, so to some degree my own fault ,nevertheless it should not happen, genuine mistake or rip off, whichever with today's technology a big mistake!'More
After looking all over the sea front in royan and just about to enter a cheap looking restaurant, my partner spotted Le Chalet. We decided to have a look and straight away, their set menu formula -€19.50 for 2 Courses or €25 for 3- and...the variety of the food on offer attracted us. As soon as we walked in, we felt welcome and the atmosphere was nice and quiet. In Royan, most of the sea front restaurants are more like fast food, the food is not great (mussels and chips galore) for a price that ends up pretty much the same or even more than the formulas on offer here. Basically, our 2 small kids were served within 5 minutes of our order taken, which allowed the adults to have a nice chat whilst waiting. But then again, the service was excellent, no wait at all! The food was well presented and tasted lovely so much so that my partner had to ask for one last slice of bread to soak the sauce of his cannette with cabbage and girolles. My mother and I had the squid sauté in garlic butter and it was delicious. The kids were offered a choice of chicken, mussels or fish filet served with either rice, pasta or sautees potatoes and had a lovely rice pudding for dessert. We went for the cafe gourmand dessert, which is a selection of puddings and an espresso and it, again, was served promptly and tasted fantastic! The wine list was very affordable and the red recommended was perfect! Despite having the 2 courses formula, we were full by the end of the meal, so the quantity was just right and you can afterwards take a walk on the sea front or to the small faire as the restaurant is just on the other side of the road. So, if you pass by, are looking for some decent food at a very decent price and a brilliant service, then, stop there. It will be worth it! We come on holiday to the area every year and will certainly be dining at Le Chalet again! Thank you to their team again for a lovely evening!More
