Fabulous seafood restaurant on the sea front. Friendly efficient staff. Lovely fish menu with plenty of choice. Best meal of our long weekend in royan. Very fair prices.

I ate an Amiral menu for 25 euro. I could choise from four different plates. The size of the plates were perfect for me, I wasn't hungry after. The size of the fish also was normal, not small. It's a perfect place for a nice...dinner if you want to select fro, diferent sea food dishes. The waiter was nice.More
We were doing a run up the tourist (coastal) route from Mirambeau and ended up at Royan at Lunchtime. I happened to find a parking place just opposite the Restaurant and we had a look at the menu and it looked OK and reasonably priced....My son, the tourist, and I, a local resident had oysters to start and then the Moules and Frites, with two different sauces. The food was good and the staff very friendly and attentive.More
Recoomened to eat here. Fairly cramped seating. Ordered the friut de mer. Had to ask three times for bread. Got the feeling we were pushed to one side as we were english. Food was ok but expensive and could have been fresher as well. Feeling...some of it had been cooked a little while.More
Lovely seafood and very good service. The waitress was very friendly, took her time in explaining dishes and the quality of food we got was excellent. Will eat there again.
Lots of eating places so close to the sea front makes choosing a good option difficult, and sometimes the proximity of so many similar offerings is a recipe for very ordinary food, as competition can become price-oriented rather than quality based. We chose Le Carrelet...on the back of previous comments for its seafood and found it ok without being great. Service was friendly but patchy - there was quite a wait between ordering and the arrival of any food, given that we were amongst the first of the evening diners - and they had to be reminded to bring the wine. From sitting down to finishing a one-course meal took the best part of 90 minutes, which seemed excessive considering it was Moules Frites. The moules were well prepared and presented, but on the small side, which was a disappointment, but the frites were very acceptable. On the premise that you get what you pay for, it was an all-right meal at an all-right price.More
Lively restaurant pecialsing in fish and fruits de mer. Very accessible ( not upmarket) more like a very French version of fish'chips ( and modules, crabs etc....!) Fun and recommended - you'll get your hands dirty !
We enjoyed our first meal here so much, we went back on our second night. Excellent staff friendly and very helpful, the young waitress had great sense of humour. Their fish is wonderful and nicely presented too. Very busy with tourists and locals. Good place...to people watch. Will come back thank you .More
My wife and I ate at this restaurant the day we arrived in Royan. The food was so good that over 4 days we only ate at one other place. We had a total of 3 dinners and one lunch at this restaurant. The Moules...Frites were great. We also had a white fish and a Moules/curry preparation prepared in an oven plate. Yum. ! When we return to Royan we will surely return.More
Visited for a late quick lunch when visiting Royan for shopping. I didn't expect much at a seafront holiday restaurant but was very pleased with the quality of food served on the very reasonable menu of the day. In fairness the restaurant was busy with...locals which is always a good sign and I had my favourite soup de poisson for the first time on this holiday and it was very good. The service was excellent and there was one English speaking waiter. I find that if you are courteous and try your best in French, the staff will usually speak English to you, to practise I think. Well worth a visit. ,More
The only negative was the sole my friend had-too many bones. They should have offered her another entree. Mama had duck which she enjoyed and I had grilled tuna. The frites were delicious. The waiter was very friendly and polite.
We visit this restaurant many times during our month long holiday every June. We are always made welcome, the food is well cooked, and the oysters for starters are excellent. Looking forward to meeting Marie again in a few weeks time
You can't expect to much from a "summer tourist restaurant" but if you sell seafood you have to take care not to serve things that have been deepfreezed for ages
We had the most delicious and varied seafood ever. Loved it and would like to return with all our adult children and their partners as they love seafood too!
There is no shortage of this type of restaurant in this particular area of Royan. There is a whole parade of places to choose from, all offering similar products. After browsing the menus we chose this as its menu appealed more and was already busy...by the relatively early time of 7.15pm. We reserved a table and went off for aperos. So by the time we sat down at 8pm the place was packed. We chose the 25.50€ menu and were impressed with the freshness of the seafood and fish. Despite the number of customers, our waitress coped admirably and always managed a smile as she served us. There was very little delay in any of the courses, water and drinks were replenished regularly and had we not reserved a table we would definitely have been turned away, as others were who came in on spec. I am very surprised that this restaurant does not rate more highly in Royan.More
