Four of us ate last Sat night here all 4 of us came away saying the food was as good as anything we have eaten anywhere around the world . Four different starters and the same with mains and deserts and all were fab. Staff in the restaurant were lovely and attentive. The place was buzzing but at no time did we feel we had to wait to long on service. Great pints as well and the house wine was also good. We loved the decor of the olde bar the 2 younger staff serving the bar were grand friendly and polite. Our only negative for the whole night was the guy who seemed to be in charge of the bar could have been more welcoming for all his patrons and not just a select few. Possibly he was having a bad night but it would certainly not stop us coming back to this little Gem

Our Friday night visit , a few weeks ago, to The Olde Glen Bar and Restaurant began and ended with the Hunter’s Moon looking down on this magical corner of Donegal. If ever there was a setting to add to the experience, this is it. We were a family party of nine, led in through the warren of cosy bars, with antique, rustic décor which presumably puts the “e” in “Olde”. From start to finish, our evening was a memorable one. We were seated in close proximity to the kitchen, where it was a pleasure to see the rapport between chefs and the passion they had for their art. All the servers deserve special mention, being friendly, professional and caring. The food- a four course dinner menu- offered beautifully balanced flavours and wonderful cooking, all served without fuss. I had the scallops followed by aged beef fillet and cheek, with the most exquisite meringue shards on white chocolate and strawberry sorbet. It deserves a name upgrade from Eton Mess! There was minimal conversation during these courses, everyone immersed in full appreciation of their dishes. Petit fours were served to round off what was a really lovely evening. At a set price of €50, this menu truly delivers great value. Star quality is something that’s difficult to describe, but you’ll know it when you see it, in the kitchen of The Olde Glen.

We stayed just outside the village of Glen for a week & ended up visiting this bar on 3 occasions. We ate in the restaurant one evening, food was good & service was efficient. The bar however was the highlight for us, it was cosy, friendly & my husband was very happy with the Guinness. We ate food in the bar on 2 days, this is served in a box called a bia box & it was of really good quality, tasty & very reasonably priced. Overall this place is a 10/10 & well worth a visit.

We dined here last year two adults and our 13yr old daughter,we had a superb meal incredible food in a lovely location. There was a set menu four courses for €55, our daughter wouldn't eat four courses so the manager kindly allowed her to have a main course & ice-cream priced accordingly, she enjoyed a delicious fillet steak with all the trimmings. We are returning to Donegal for a few days this August & were so looking forward to visiting the Olde Glen again as it was the highlight of our trip last year, unfortunately we were informed that our daughter would be charged the full amount of €60 for the set menu or eat from the children's menu with the usual nuggets pasta etc. This is so disappointing as our daughter doesn't eat this kind of food at home. They no longer do one or two courses from the main menu I was told. Why do children have to settle for the kids menu, in other parts of Europe this is unheard of. Unfortunately we won't be returning to the Olde Glen this year.

I brought a group of 9 golfers to have a pint and a meal at Olde Glen Bar & Restaurant in early June. It isn't easy to please a bunch of old, well-traveled men. I had even taken the time to warn them that this was a fixed price four course meal and was fairly expensive. Every single one of them thought this was the best meal of the trip and well worth the cost. They also praised the service and friendliness of the staff. Thanks to everyone and high praise to the chef for giving us a memorable evening!

We booked the restaurant at the last minute for a family group of 9 . We had the most delicious 3 course meal . The attention to detail was fantastic. We had a set menu that was inventive and delicious. The kids had homemade burgers from the kids menu and they cleared their plates . The ladies serving were very efficient and patient . They even wrapped up the treacle brown bread for us to take home ! Fillet of beef and beef cheek was amazing , rich and perfectly pink in the middle .The chef popped his head out to make sure we were happy which was a nice touch . Worth a visit most definitely

We booked a table for four here on Saturday evening and were escorted to our table by friendly staff .The meal was very tasty but 7euro supplement for a tiny piece of fillet steak was expensive ,the vegtable were very scarce as well with just 8 wee carrots to be shared between 4 adults, along with the same amount of potatoes. everone enjoyed thier meal but a wee bit more on the plates would have given us more satisfaction. All in all we had a good experience in The Olde Glen Bar but dont expect to return in the near future as 60euro per head plus supplements was just too expensive and value for money was definetly not present here!

I recently visited the olde Glen bar. Having read great reviews and recommendations in newspapers I was looking forward to it. However I was extremely disappointed. The portions were so minute, I left feeling very hungry. It was not a cheap meal and I certainly won't be recommending it. While I do appreciate quality over quantity I felt there was neither quality nor quantity with the food. I have never reviewed a restaurant before but when a restaurant is recommended in good food guides one would expect rather more.

Booked Old Glen Bar and Restaurant for last Saturday evening. The set menu at 60 euros was expensive enough without having to pay 7 euros supplement for 3 tiny squares of fillet steak and an extra 3 euros for a tiny piece of halibut fish. The vegetable that came with the meal was one small bowl of carrots, that resembled the cut off fingers of Brendan Gleeson from the film 'The Banshees of Inisherin' and one small bowl of baby boiled potatoes that lacked flavour and colour, between 4 of us. We also ordered one portion of chips and again served in a small container not enough for one person. Absolute rip off. Never going back.

Mind blowing is the only way I can explain my night at ‘The Old Glen Bar. Firstly the bar itself is the epitome of what you want in an traditional Irish bar…. Warm welcome and heap of traditional rustic charm. But the star of the show was the food…unreal from beginning to end. I have travelled far and wide across the globe and I can say this was one of the most beautiful dining experiences of all times. From the warms breads from when you’re seated.. the very butter is so rich and creamy… each course was a delight on the palate.. there was six of us and all ordered something different in starters, mains and desserts, all having a taste of each other’s and every dish as exquisite as the next. I just want to thank the staff for a fabulous night and to the especially the chefs you are simply amazing and what an asset to Donegal and surrounding counties to have this caliber of food on our doorstep is a privilege that is truly appreciated. Maith Thu agus Go raibh maith agat 🙏🏼🙏🏼💕

We went as a large family group (an annual tradition), but for the first time we went to Glen. We had eaten there in its previous incarnations, but never for this event. It was a great experience for all of us - the set menu had lots of choice and the specials were mainly local seafood. The wine list is organised by country and had plenty of choices to suit different tastes and budgets. Great bread and butter and gorgeous cheese and onion choux rolls. We were all happy with our choices - scallops, oysters and the potato bread as starters and cod, beef, halibut and a spiced monkfish for two from the specials board. Desserts were also wonderful, especially the chocolate tart. Service was friendly and efficient and I think the pricing is very reasonable for food of this standard.

Eight good friends had dinner in The Old Glen on Wednesday night and what an experience we had. Starting with the Dingle Gin and good wine in the bar, we then went through the old bar and into a lovely modern restaurant. To try and explain how good the food was is impossible, but each course had flavours and tastes that set your taste buds alive and flavours that just burst in your mouth. We were served little delicacies throughout the meal and each dish that came was just superb. I can’t wait to go back and wish Donegal was nearer to Dublin.

My family and I celebrated my 70th birtday on the 27th July 2022 in Olde Glen Bar and Restaurant. From beginning to end it was absolutely fantastic. The chef, Ciaran Sweeney, knows his stuff and commands a calm confident kitchen. The food is locally sourced and seasonal and very very tasty. Cormac Walsh and his waiting staff show attention to detail and are attentive but unobtrusive. We stayed overnight in Ciara's Cots - beautifully renovated and comfortable rooms. Breakfast too was a delight - continental style just as I like, no heavy fry up to spoil the previous evening's beautiful food. In all a real treat. We'll be back!

The chefs in this place deserve the highest commendation. Each course was a work of art. That couples with the extra surprise dishes made my wife's 60th the most memorable of occasions. The staff were so very friendly and very attentive to our every whim. The Old Glen restaurant is definitely a new go to place to eat while holidaying in Dunfanaghy..

We just had one of the best meals of our lives. Every element from the breads to the dessert was perfection. Their home smoked salmon, the duck cooked perfectly pink, the lime posset all beautifully presented as a feast for the eyes and the palate. Service was delightful, friendly and informed, and best of all, the pace of the meal was spot on. No rush no drama just lovely. We'll be back.
