Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing high quality food presented. Elevated traditional dishes. Highlights were delicious pre-dinner breads, fermented soda bread and lobster mains, pork and beef also very good. Could do with a vegan option on the menu.

Stayed for two nights in Clara's Cots with dinner both evenings in the restaurant. It was a very busy weekend with the Donegal Rally in full swing. I was worried that this would impact our stay, quite the opposite. The whole experience was a master...class in how to run a business. From the comfortable, clean and cosy rooms to the brillant locally sourced food in the restaurant, a place with real style and individuality. (Great wine list too). Everything was beyond expectation. Cormac and all of the staff were professional and even under a lot of pressure always had a smile and time to have a quick chat. It's hard to impress with breakfast but that's what you will get here, continental style with some great cured meats and cheeses. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We hope to be back soon.More

My family and I celebrated my 70th birtday on the 27th July 2022 in Olde Glen Bar and Restaurant. From beginning to end it was absolutely fantastic. The chef, Ciaran Sweeney, knows his stuff and commands a calm confident kitchen. The food is locally sourced...and seasonal and very very tasty. Cormac Walsh and his waiting staff show attention to detail and are attentive but unobtrusive. We stayed overnight in Ciara's Cots - beautifully renovated and comfortable rooms. Breakfast too was a delight - continental style just as I like, no heavy fry up to spoil the previous evening's beautiful food. In all a real treat. We'll be back!More

We dined here last year two adults and our 13yr old daughter,we had a superb meal incredible food in a lovely location. There was a set menu four courses for €55, our daughter wouldn't eat four courses so the manager kindly allowed her to have...a main course & ice-cream priced accordingly, she enjoyed a delicious fillet steak with all the trimmings. We are returning to Donegal for a few days this August & were so looking forward to visiting the Olde Glen again as it was the highlight of our trip last year, unfortunately we were informed that our daughter would be charged the full amount of €60 for the set menu or eat from the children's menu with the usual nuggets pasta etc. This is so disappointing as our daughter doesn't eat this kind of food at home. They no longer do one or two courses from the main menu I was told. Why do children have to settle for the kids menu, in other parts of Europe this is unheard of. Unfortunately we won't be returning to the Olde Glen this year.More

I found this place on Instagram before we visited Ireland. So glad I did, or we would never have found it! Beautiful bar in the middle of a small, tranquil village. We couldn't believe how busy it was for a Thursday afternoon. The staff were...so friendly, despite how busy they were. The character of the place has to be seen to be believed!More

We didn't know anything about the area or where best to eat. Google search and narrowed to Two places. We ended up selecting the Ole Glen Bar and what a stroke of luck. We hadn't a clue about the restaurant and thought we were getting...pub grub. When they set it was a set menu for €60 pp we knew it had to be worth a shot ...... It was. The food was delicious and the portions were perfect. The service was excellent. We definitely recommend a trip to this spot but make sure you book in advance. We got lucky! We'll be going back next time we're in Donegal.More

I brought a group of 9 golfers to have a pint and a meal at Olde Glen Bar & Restaurant in early June. It isn't easy to please a bunch of old, well-traveled men. I had even taken the time to warn them that this...was a fixed price four course meal and was fairly expensive. Every single one of them thought this was the best meal of the trip and well worth the cost. They also praised the service and friendliness of the staff. Thanks to everyone and high praise to the chef for giving us a memorable evening!More

We stayed at the nearby Rosapenna Resort (highly recommended) and when asked what was the best local restaurant they readily suggested the Old Glen. It is about 15 minutes from the resort. The place was busy and accommodated a Saturday night reservation for the four...of us months in advance. The meal was quite remarkable and delicious with every bite. Seafood and local beef/lamb highlighted the menu and nothing disappointed. I strongly encourage to try this place out.More

We had an evening meal here recently, the food was exceptional and service was first class. The only things that bothered me was that there seemed to be a stag party at the other end of the building and the noise throughout the building was terrible, some of...the party seemed to know the kitchen staff as they randomly kept coming up to them and shaking hands didnt see much hand washing taking place. Another thing that i have never seen in all my travels was that the kitchen staff were continuously eating from bowels plates etc ,spoons in their mouths,i would recomend closing up the kitchen entrance like it was years ago,it would keep the noise levels down also.Would i go back here? probably but only to eat in the small ante room before the main dining area.More

We love the Olde Glen bar and the fabulous restaurant that’s attached to it. You’re never going to be disappointed when you visit here, whatever your taste is. We were fortunate to have booked for the special 7 course tasting menu brought to the restaurant...by Michael Moriarty (of Irish TV fame). It was spectacular, I’ll put up the menu pictures. The staff were all professionals and looked after us extremely well, and deserve thanks. We can’t wait to return.More
