While signs approaching this place for miles advertise food, it has been years since the kitchen was open. Trading hours vary - generally the evening of weekends, but no consistency that I have been able to establish. Also, while some reviews rate the owner as...friendly, this was not my experience. Maybe as a passer by and being unknown I received a different service. Ordered a pint of Guinness, and it was pulled straight - full glass filled. My friend was given a pint that had been sitting on the bar when we arrived in and both tasted rank to be quite honest. It is a shame. The building has a lot of old world charm and character you don’t find too often. Could have one of the oldest interiors of pubs in the Blessington Lakes area...but the current owner seems to have little interest in allowing this pub to live up to the reputation of its heyday. There are some locals who return relatively frequently, mixing with friends and neighbours, so maybe the potential to have a good pint/time is there...that just wasn’t my experience.More

We really love this place. It has the old world charm of a great Irish pub with great food too. Leo, the owner, is a great character. Well worth a visit for a pint and a chat

Found this wonderful little place while traveling around the Blessington area. What caught my eye was the "diner" sign since these are noticeably rare in Ireland. In any case we stopped by for lunch and were greeted by a fire in the stove and a...nice menu featuring various sandwiches and ONION RINGS!! Again, this is something not usually seen on Irish menus. Long story short, the food was very tasty and well prepared, and the onion rings were maybe the best anywhere. The chef/owner, Leo, is a fan of Diners Drive-ins and Dives and has taken some of his recipes from the show. Interesting man to talk to. If you are in the area, don't miss a real treat. Head for Leo's Diner at the Star Inn in Valleymount!More
