If you are looking for an authentic Swiss restaurant, this is it. The building has low ceilings, lots of wood and great charm. The pork, especially when compared to the excessively lean US pork was wonderful in its juiciness.

Cozy atmosphere in a very old building. Pretty garden out front. Got the fondue and it was fabulous. Look for the huge wisk at the end of the driveway. A little pricey but we found high prices all around Kandersteg. Worth every penny! It would have been 5 stars but the staff was extremely loud in the kitchen. It was... More

On a visit to Kandersteg we spotted this Swiss chalet set back off the road. Having read the menu and discovered the name, and eaten the previous day in its sister restaurant in Interlaken, we decided that we would have lunch here. The food in Interlaken was good and authentic and this was the same, if not more so. It... More

We had never heard of this hotel, but it was a rainy day and we were looking for something to do. This place was recommended by the tourist office. What a great find. It was built in 1753 and it is like a living museum. We walked in and took a self tour - there is no charge an no... More

Had a lovely fondue here with bacon and onions at the end of a long walk. Although a little pricey the atmosphere was superb and the staff attentive and welcoming. You can get raclette and other authentic Swiss dishes here also.

We had a lovely meal of Swiss specialities in this wonderful old chalet building. Everything is very traditional here and a real treat for a visitor.

It would be quite easy to drive by this establishment and not realise it's a restaurant. We stumbled across this lovely old chalet seeing folk eating outside and were amazed by its genuine charm and character. We had arrived at around 3.30pm after a walk and had almost given up on finding somewhere to eat. We were happily seated for... More

We had a magnificent aftenoon tea in the garden of the most authentic inn in the entire valley. Most friendly service (with humour!), delicious pastries in a lovely scenery. A must do!

We came down from the Sunnbüel lift off the Gemmi and walked into Kandersteg - this beautiful old building is en route. We stopped off for coffee and cake and the cakes were DELICIOUS, homemade. There is also a little herb garden... it's a very pleasant place to spend an hour against a beautiful setting.
