Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Local food and friendly service. Lots to choose from on the menu, all dishes are local and many with homemade “twists”. The Gnocci with tomatoes, olives and spinach is my favourite. Glass of Swiss white or red wine is recommended. My husv´band had the Entrecôte,...cooked to perfection. Highly recommended.More

Were looking for a new place to have our family Eastern lunch. Were welcome at the Berninahaus, also our Jack Russel. Excellent Food, they had a Cordon Bleu Festival and very friendly service with a warm atmosphere in this stylish berghaus. An excellent atmosphere, we...will certainly return.More

On a day trip to from Italy to the Bernina pass in Switzerland I happened to stop and have lunch at the Berninahaus nearby the cable car to Diavolezza. It was a special Hungarian Cuisine week and following the recommendation of the staff I ordered...a typical Hungarian menu. The food was really excellent and the wine (not Hungarian though) a lovely Swiss Pinot Noir was really top class, not to mention a first class service by an extremely courteous, caring and caring lady of the staff. I was lucky enough with the weather so I could enjoy my meal on the terrace overlooking a great scenery and the little station of the Bernina railway. A great and satisfying experience.More

30 years ago, after a trip up the Diavolezza we stopped here for lunch and I tried Bernina Röesti and was mesmerized. Every time I am back in the area I return for that famous dish. Röesti potatoes, topped with ham, them cheese melted in...the broiler and finished with a fried egg on top. Not something you should eat every day but it screams delicious. Set in a 500 year old Gasthaus it is a wonderful experience.More

How often do you get a chance to eat at a restaurant / hotel that is celebrating its 500th anniversary / Jubilee? We returned to the Berninahaus for the first time since the summer of 2013 and we had a WONDERFUL evening and we are...already looking forward to returning again. There was so much we enjoyed about this visit. The warm welcome from Xavier and Elizabeth, the delicious food, the very pleasant dining room - it was just such a wonderful evening. We arrived on a COLD winter's evening and left warm and happy. The kids enjoyed their pasta bollo and ice cream, while my wife and I enjoyed the delights of the interesting and creative 'special Al Capone / Chicago' menu - just such a fun, creative menu. My chicken wing Caesar Salad was excellent as was my delightful rib eye. While my wife devoured her delicious burger. To end the evening, we had a wonderful coffee and a very good brownie with ice cream. Special mention must go to the Jubilaum wine that is on special offer - a very reasonably priced Tuscan blend that was wonderful - and is definitely something red wine lovers should enjoy. This restaurant / hotel is different and special - 500 years old - WOW! and situated just below such a quite and beautiful mountain pass. Definitely worth a detour to experience.More

We were in this for dinner with friends. The place was nice and had lots of selections for everyone. We had Shrimp and Lamb dishes and there were tasty. Our friend had beef dishes and they were happy with their food too. Salad bowl (as...a side dish) was crunchy with tasteful dressing. I think that the drinking water was a little pricey.More

Stopped at this delightful roadside hotel restaurant for the first time with the kids. It was a beautiful, sunny, blue sky day, so we sat on the terrace and had a delightful lunch. The summer salad was exceptional and I loved the olive bread -...it was so good we had to ask for more!!! The kids menu is the standard one that kids love and our kids enjoyed the chicken nuggets with pomme frites. The friendly proprietors, Xavier and Elizabeth, previously of the Dorta in Zuoz, were very welcoming and gave us a tour of the hotel - some of the rooms are truly special AND 500 years old (though renovated!) Xavier suggested a gentle hike for us after lunch - which we enjoyed and then we returned for ice cream for the kids and coffee for the adults. it was really a very nice afternoon - all thanks to Berninahaus If you are in the Engadin, this place is a bit different than the typical restaurants and hotels in the villages in the valley. The train and the traffic do pass by (the train even stops right opposite the hotel which is more than convenient if you do not want to drive), but it still feels refreshing and relaxing to have an enjoyable lunch on the terrace here. I am sure dinner is just as good.... ENJOY!More
