While the menu clearly signals tradition and rusticity, the cooking is precise enough. We went for the selection of mixed appetizers and then, at two opposites end of what the menu has to offer, the vegetarian dish and the very traditional mixed meats, that is saumagen, wurst and klopse with sauerkraut. We were not disappointed. And the service was both... More

We have been there for the Winefest in Deidesheim and had a reservation as it was a very busy. It was a nice outdoor setting with live music. This added to a more laid back atmosphere in the way people behaved (not so snobby). The food was worth every Euro we spend - I have ordered 4 course menu which... More

This restaurant is a 1 star Michelin restaurant and it is a beautiful restaurant indeed which is open Wednesday to Saturday. We really had a difficult time getting comfortable with the menu. In my opinion there is currently a strong trend towards more and more eccentric food rather than focusing on understandable food cooked to perfection. Maybe this level of... More

This restaurant is a must-visit for my family - a trip to Germany always includes a mandatory stopover to this Deidesheimer icon. For our most recent visit, we ensured bone-dry appetites to optimise early dinner experience & we were not disappointed. My daughter & I shared the Leg of Lamb ~ the lamb the most tender I have had in... More

A German friend of ours took us to this restaurant to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday while we were in Germany. We sat outside on a beautiful autumn evening on the cobblestoned patio with the church on our right-hand and a lit fountain in front of us. it was such a romantic setting! Our friend, who is a wine connoisseur, chose... More

-Stuffy, overly formal atmosphere -Arrogant, pompous, self important sommelier -Possibly the most confusing menu we have ever encountered -Disproportionate meal sizes with half our party overawed by the size of their main and the other half seemingly lacking in size, only having finished to be then presented with more meat but no longer having any accompaniments Disappointing considering the food... Had a fantastic evening of exciting gastronomy. The service was helpful, insightful and fun to add that little bit of extra flavor to the evening. We had the 6 course tasting menu - and the serving sizes were perfect... Although at the end we did find it difficult to have the complementary truffles with our coffee from the plentiful truffle... The restaurant has a long tradition in the Palatinate, in my opinion for two reasons: 1) famous guests taken there by the former German Chancellor, Helmut Kohl, and 2) excellent cuisine. We were there on business, and the restaurant downstairs was closed. We had our food in a room adjacent to the main restaurant (cosy wood panels) on the main... More
