I was on my own and I took the regional menu. First, the apetizers were very fine and by courtesy of the house. Specially the lard with a taste of onions and the a sort of pie made of wild mushrooms. Afterwards came the a soup, the duck with a crispy skin and the dessert. The place is an old... More

Marco made the evening memorable by his attentive service and astute recommendations. We ate in the charming garden and enjoyed our chanterelle soup, eel in dill sauce and fresh char with pea risotto. The lavender creme brulee was memorable. Over all, one of the best meals we have had in our two week jaunt through Germany.

The Messerschmitt Hotel was the designated drop off and pick up point for our coach from our river cruise. So after some photos for me and shopping therapy for my wife, we had a drink at the hotel while we waited since it was another very hot day. I tried the local specialty a smoked beer - you definitely tasted... More

A short menu of really inventive dishes. Short is good! And the food here is beyond excellent. Having a sweet tooth, the thing that rocked boat was the creme brulee. This is a dish that easy to do, but really difficult to do really well. Here, it was brilliant! Washed down with a glass of Franconian wine recommended by the... More

"The Messerschmittt" is one of the best known hotels and restaurants in Bamberg. We decided to have lunch there during a recent visit to the area. It was not our first meal there but it was every bit as outstanding as the last time we stopped by. The service was friendly and very professional. We chose items from the special... More

You can tell when you walk into the Messerschmitt that it has been serving customers in Bamberg for quite a while. Dark timber walls and antique artwork and sculptures outline the dining room. There is plenty of room between tables to enjoy quiet conversation without someone else on top of you. The service was excellent, but you need to know... More

We were booked into the Messerschmitt hotel and decided to try the restaurant. It would be our first meal in Germany. The dining room is formal--cloth table cloths and napkins. The atmosphere also formal and reserved. Jet lag caught up with us and while we were hungry, we decided only to have starters. I had the leg and breast of... More

The atmospherics are nice in this traditional restaurant in an old hotel. The service and food is fine, but don't expect culinary excitement, but a pleasant experience.
