5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed yesterday NEW

Four of us visited for a evening meal. Did not have a starter and had a main and a sweet. Both were excellent as was the service. We visit here two or three times a year and always enjoy our meal, we will keep coming back for our special occasions. The food was exceptional.

This used to be a great pub for meeting friends for a few beers on a Thursday night Now it has still retained its character but has a great menu and a good wine list The service is brilliant and the food fantastic I recommend the lamb also an excellent choice of fish If you haven't been there You must... Recently visited The Bell & Cross with friends but i don't think i will be going back in a hurry. We decided to just have a main course and a dessert. We all had a different meal and i had the calfs liver. The waiter explained that it is served pink which is how it should be served came with... More

Totally disappointed with our girls night out tonight, meal ok, not very good value for money, wine choice appalling, asked for a coffee or glass of wine at 10.28pm whilst we waited for our taxi only to be told NO the kitchen and bar are shut!!!! We have spent £138 tonight they certainly won't be seeing us again, sooooo disappointed

My family and I chose the Bell and Cross for my grandparent's diamond wedding anniversary celebration. The Grade I listed building is beautiful and the dining area is set-out in an array of separate rooms so we had our own dining room which was a real plus! The communication prior to the meal from Holly and Jon was friendly and... More

I've been here few times but am always put off rushing back by the below par veggie main courses. On this occasion the "Winter Butternut Squash Lasagne" was delicious 10/10. Other Restaruants take note this is what vegetarians want - a quality main course option, instead of boring Rissottos etc. As always with the Bell & Cross, the dining experience... More

Dined as a couple for a pre-booked late afternoon Sunday lunch. On arriving we were greeted by fouled mouthed drinkers in the restaurant bar which was not a good start, then shown to our table which was not set. When we had finished our starters, we were joined by two families with very young children and ate our main courses... More

Quaint small rooms reminded me of the pubs years ago. The staff were attentive and the food delicious. I chose the starter duck terrine served with a garnish of salad, chutney and bread. For main I had the lamb which was cooked perfectly, dauphinois potatoes, carrots. Quite expensive for pub food but all in all very nice!

Food quality is always consistent and great if you want traditional pub fare. The pub is split into four small rooms. In summer get a table in one of the back rooms overlooking the small garden, if your a party, opt for the panneled room. I'm not as keen on the "red" room. Have the beef wellington if it's on...
