This was the best meal of our trip, really superb. They rightly appreciate their excellent chef who has a great understanding of what goes with what and how to make a meal zing. Everything we had was delicious and none of it dull or out of place. As others have commented, the two women who run it are friendly and... More

Lovely food at a good price in a smallish traditional French family restaurant. Two ladies who managed the restaurant were lovely. Definitely recommend.

We had the distinct pleasure of dining in this lovely little establishment on two occasions while vacationing on the Canal de Burgogne. The woman who runs the restaurant always has a smile on her face and is very welcoming, and the waitress ensures that your every need is met, even if it might take awhile to get to your request... What an interesting little place! Two ladies seem to run the show, and it's a little like you're dining at their house with a bunch of other guests. You're treated almost like family, and there are clearly plenty of people who come here regularly or at least are well-known by the owners. Somewhat quirky decoration with a homely feel. The... At first sight, you'd think that this was just an ordinary restaurant, but you'd be very wrong. The lady owner has contrived to produce a terrific menu where all the courses are very well presented and extremely tasty. She also introduced us to the splendid Dampt wines from the Chablis district.

Great traditional French food at this restaurant. The goat cheese croustillant appetizer was incredibly delicious. I had the boeuf bourguignon and it was one of the best and most unique versions of this dish I've had (the addition of cassis fruits was particularly interesting). The wait staff was attentive and our food arrived quickly. I had the impression that this... More

Although Tonnerre doesn't have the same range of attractions as some of its tourist hotspot neighbours, we liked the town. It is rather reminiscent of the France of 40 years ago and none the worse for that. Compared with tourist hell holes like Vezelay, it is quite charming. Le St Pere is a lovely little restaurant which offered us a... More

We visited St Pere for lunch for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The menu was extensive with various menu options, all at a very good value. The food was served with a smile by a team of very helpful and friendly waiting staff. The food was fresh, not over complicated but was made with care and attention. My... More
