We came for the oysters, and found them all there. From the flat "pied de cheval" to the "creuse", from the gigantic no' 00 to the big enough no' 3. They were brought in couple of hours earlier, looking all fresh and ready to continue their 3 years long life. We took both types, both sizes, "00" and "1" (the... More

Got the shellfish tower. It was excellent. Crab, shrimp, clams, oysters, whelks, and snails. I believe it was about 28 euro per person at lunchtime. Totally worth it. Promptly served. Delicious. Lovely views from the second floor. Highly recommend.

In fact our diner was very enjoyable, we had the chance to eat on the balcony (only two tables available) weather was nice and the view on the bay and harbour magnificient. I took a plate of crustacés and the only reason why I gave only an average score is it because they were a lot of "bulots" (snails, the... More

My mum and I had a great meal at this place. We only had basic French but we ordered a feast of wonderful seafood, so fresh. Very rustic, felt very authentic. Nice.

Cancale is a really nice town - very atmospheric and authentic. We walked along the quai and wandered into this place - had a couple of glasses of Muscadet and some very fresh oysters. I can't say that the oysters were any better than others we enjoyed along the Breton coast, but they were very good and the prices were... More

Basic-looking restaurant, but very fresh and excellent good fruit-de-mer, overlooking the boulevard and sea. One of the best lunches ever!

We were seated at the only available table which was basically outside under an awning. It was cold enough that we had to keep our coats on but this isn't a place for relaxing, just eating great seafood. Service was fast and effective, the oyster opening area is within arms reach of most tables. The oysters are only served with... More

We were recommended this place by the same individual who recommended LE CANTORBERY in Dinan. It was amazing. Oysters from Canale are know the world over. People talk about eating them on the pier, but, we really wanted a comfortable place to sit. This place was run by two women. They spoke less English than we French, but, their attention... More

"Au pied d'cheval" means "The Horse's Hoof". It refers to a Belon variety oyster that has been allowed to grow for many years until it weighs well more than a pound and is the size of a horse's hoof. In other words, this restaurant's name is a dream. It is the outlet for an oyster fisherman's product. You can buy... More

If you want a massive plate of fresh shellfish you can't go wrong here - for $E52 my friend and I were unable to eat all the shellfish they provided. It was tasty but basically just steam and serve. I think this is classic and worth stopping for - gives you an authentic sense of the region and the fruits... More
