Dinner was simple and delicious. The service is excellent. I highly recommend this delightful restaurant. A glass of the local Corsican red is a must.

This was not our best choice of restaurant during our week in Calvi. A Funtana sits on a terrace above the main road through Calvi so you get the sounds of cars and mopeds to dine by. I don’t mind that particularly but it’s the...food that lets the place down, or at least the 20 euro Corsican experience menu. Choices were tomato salad or cold meats, veal casserole or cuttlefish casserole, pannacotta or creme brulee. Not hugely imaginative and not a patch on the Corsican experience menu at Santa Maria the previous night. The cuttlefish was rubbery (was it really supposed to taste like that?). SWMBO not impressed. Waiter a bit sullen and not particularly helpful. My 2 stars is for their Corsican experience menu. Maybe we should have gone a la carte...More

Recommended by the place we were staying at, nice atmosphere, service was OK and food was good, The veal was very nice and served with mash and rocket, also had the summer risotto that was also a nice dish. 100 euros for three courses and...a bottle of house wine (shared starter). I would recommend visiting but is really just a standard style restaurant.More

Very average dense cheesy pizzas, delivered wrong order and told me that was what I ordered with no apology. Really average expensive meal.

A very comfortable evening meal with friends from Marseille and family. We had bruschetta, pasta, and deserts. Local beer and wine was very good as well.

On a damp Monday, La Fontana became quite full as the evening progressed so we were pleased we'd booked. Reassuringly, it was full of locals or French visitors. We'd been eating well with French or Italian food so for a change we shared a portion...of pata negra for a starter. It was full of flavour which it should be because it was listed as 36 months aged on the menu. After some excellent dinners on previous days, we felt we then wanted something relatively simple so one of us chose a mortadella pizza which was pleasantly drizzled in herb infused olive oil. The other main was a creamy pecorino flavoured risotto. Both were enjoyable enough. There's a very long wine list on a blackboard and much of it is relatively highly priced but we enjoyed a rosé from the Calvi region albeit spending more than we'd normally do during a fairly average meal. I had a pizza which was quite nice, and a small green salad. Other half had a huge plate of smoked salmon which reportedly was great. What really makes the place stand out is the staff - so friendly and helpful. Good value too.

Very fresh salads with well cooked vegetable. Big and fresh bruschettas. Nice ice cream for the dessert. They are very nice with kids and even offered us the orange juice for our little daughter! Thanks again!!

we was on family vacation in Corsica, enjoying beach and sun, but my wife and me also really treasure a fine exclusive dinner in a relaxed ambient. First day we went to a restaurant just beside we found here on tripadvisor. We almost mixed up...the place and the lady already offered us a table when we realized it was the wrong restaurant. She said no problem and even pointed us the other place. -We should have stayed! So next day we finally went there and after that another 3 time. We are not easy guys, with me having some food allergies and three quit picky kids. -one of the "can I get this with that aside without this aso..." guys :-(. But patiently the waiter bravely tried to fulfill our special wishes. The food is sooo delicious. As well the typical Corsican dishes as the french or mediteran starters with truffles, special cheese and corsican sausages. I suggest you the big starter plate! They even gave us a variety each day of that plate, to explore more new deliciousness. Btw: Great wines, -no wonder as the owner is said to be number 2 of the Corsican sommeliers! I took back home some bottles of red wine I bought last day, for a price more than worth it. -Right now, when I write this, I enjoy one glass of that wine and feeling "homesick" to that place. -Maybe not hard to realize: Im really a fan and will come back for sure. I want to point out that we came as a five head family (3 kids, 7-10years) what is not always the "restaurant owners choice" and we had been really treasured by the whole stuff! -In a restaurant fully booked until the last table! This is one of three restaurants grouped together in the square behind Calvi church, and comprises approximately 200 covers spread out across one half of the square. Herein lies the problem. A big restaurant requires systems to be in place (i know this because i...was a restaurant manager of a 240 cover restaurant back in the day), and this restaurant has a staff who have not even the most basic grasp of how to keep a busy restaurant running efficiently. A large number of enthusiastic but hopelessly unskilled waiters attempt to serve, but lacking any training whatsoever they fail miserably. Expect to wait 2 hours to complete your meal, much longer if you add desserts and/or coffees. Keep your order simple and ask for the bill when you place your first drinks order and you might leave inside 2 hours. Frustrated guests abound, which is a shame because the food is actually quite good and the setting is great.More

Offer a menu in English. Crazy pizzas not particularly crazy.All in all ok but nothing special. Plenty of other restaurants in this area which would be worth a try.

Had lunch here. We shared a pizza and garlic bread which were both very tasty. Service was on the slow side but not too bad. The location was relaxing but I can imagine when this place is busy you could have a long wait. We...ate at about 1pm. House wine was good and not too expensive. Think the main problem was there were not enough staff and our poor guy seemed to be doing everything.More
