We were ready for a good meal after walking the South Downs Way in the rain. This was a very busy pub/restaurant and the only waiter was working his socks off. He managed to keep everyone happy with prompt attention. How he kept this friendly service going all evening before collapsing at home with gin and chocolate we don't know!... More

What a wonderful place. Lovely calm ambience. Friendly, helpful staff and the food (fish and chips and lambs liver) were delicious and beautifully presented. We just went for dinner at the end of our walk, but would have stayed overnight, if we had known rooms were available.

Bar staff pleasant indeed. Very much so. But I'd say that the place had been improved a little too vigorously. I prefer somewhere which has the distinctive stamp of an individual and this, whilst perfectly pleasant, lacks character

SERIOUSLY??????? we are never going to win in this industry if the general public are now marking us down for improving our businesses too much. what is with that????? I have spent almost 4 years and a lot of money improving The Bluebell, the staff work VERY hard. all to make sure that our guests have a great time when... More

My friend and I had three courses each, with the ham hock terrine starter the star. Really tasty veal tbone, trio of sausages with yummy deep sauce. Fresh well cooked veggies. Don't recognise the review about attitude, poor food and old decor. Friendly, efficient, well cooked food was our experience. The owner was fine and helpful. Don't get the other... More

Popped in for lunch after getting a little lost whilst driving around. The pub is nicely decorated and clearly set up as a bistro pub. The menu was quite appealing and the specials even more so. My wife plumped for roast lamb which she said was delicious, it was quite generous and the roast potatoes were a winner. I had... More

We changed our numbers and our sit down time before today and both times, it was no trouble. Our food came out nicely presented and all at the same time. I had a Sunday lunches - delicious and my friends had cottage pies, sausages, fish trio, sandwiches and puddings. Special mention goes to the root vegetables with nutmeg, superb, and... More

Attracting mostly locals in the winter months, the Bluebell has a very well-balanced menu. The food was perfectly cooked and very tasty. The desert was innovative and worth leaving a space for. The wine list (by the glass) left something to be desired - the description of red wine as "red - Pinot Noir" is not very helpful. They had... More

A group of six, we had lunch and were welcomed warmly by the staff who were attentive throughout. All our food was attractively served, tasty and served on hot plates, which is often overlooked by some restaurants. The clean plates for both courses demonstrated that not only was the quality excellent, the portions were spot on. Those who enjoyed the... More

We were greeted with a warm welcome and a private drink. Great service and wonderful rooms but best of all the Most amazing food. You will find more of a restaurant feel than pub but well worth a visit.
