We enjoyed a simply lovely room in a cottage style terrace in the grounds. The relatively sparsely furnished room was modern with a nicely equipped large shower room. The fittings were modern and all worked extremely well. The hotel is in a traditional chateau type building, beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful nothing is any trouble whatsoever. The restaurant is of a reasonable to highish standard good quality food beautifully served and elegantly cooked. The terrace one these hot days was exquisite. Breakfast served on the dining room was self service, we elected to have a small petit dejeuner of French bread, coffee a mix of croissants, pain chocolate and pain raisins. A fruit juice and all was perfect. All in all a super Hotel and Restaurant well managed and very friendly. We shall return.

If you are looking for heaven on earth, this place comes as close as it gets. Wonderfully situated in the French countryside, a gorgeous chateau and cottages make up the the hotel. The grounds are outstanding and the restaurant offers the most unique and well prepared and presented dishes. Do not miss a swim in the pool, overlooking the French countryside and the chateau. The breakfast buffet is plentiful and the staff was very accommodating, friendly and courteous. We will be back for sure.

This chateau is just like sleeping beauty’s castle. We were an extended family of 7 that had done a 4 day cycle trip of the Loire and this was the perfect place to spend a long weekend at the end. We got a free upgrade to a suite. The weather was warm and sunny. The breakfast and dinners had a great choice and 1st class quality of food and service. They helped arrange a kayak trip for us all nearby and provided a great picnic lunch. The pool is great too. You won’t be disappointed.

We stayed 3 days at the Domaine de la Tortiniere, very different from each other. For the first day, when we stayed in one of the largest and most beautiful rooms in the castle tower we are giving a 5 star. Everything was outstanding, the service, the room, the view, and so on. We were able to see the Bastille Day fireworks from our room! For the subsequent 2 days when we stayed in one of the back cottages we are rating it with only 2 stars. Sorry, but the difference between one and another was too big, it looked that we were downgraded from being the guest of honor to the horse keeper at the chateau. Maybe some cottages were better than ours but in our case, the room looked like a stable. We unloaded all our grief and deception to the receptionist on duty, Masha, and I have to apologize to her for that. We realized that it was none of her fault, she was so kind and helpful to us. The grounds of the domain were not exactly how you envision the gardens of a great castle. No landscaping at all, the swimming pool was under construction, the alley that went to the pool was a hazard if you don't have proper shoes and the entire domain looked neglected. The restaurant on site was way overrated and overpriced. Even though we had a reservation and there not that many people for that evening, we waited more than an hour before the server asked us, without any smile or hello, what we want to drink. Very different from the traditional French etiquette. The food was ok, not bad, and the portions were perfect if you are on a losing weight diet. I want to leave on a happy note, so, some of the good things about the castle were the easy to find location, the top rooms in the chateau, the bottle of home made liqueur in each room, the bellboy that carried our heavy suitcases to the top room of the chateau and the well mannered service we received from the reception desk even when we were so frustrated.

We just returned to the Domaine de La Tortiniere and again, it was spectacular. The Domaine is a hidden gem. From the time you enter it’s front gate, you are literally taken back in time. It is hidden inside a forest with an amazing view of the Loire valley once you reach the main house. All of the rooms are very elegantly decorated and updated. You can choose from staying in the main Chateau to the separate cottages with ground terraces. Service and attention from the staff was excellent. They have an amazing restaurant where we had some amazing meals. The Domaine is situated in an area of the Loire Valley that can be used as a hub. Most towns and castles are all within an hour drive. On this trip, we visited other high end resorts and none of the ones we saw compared to La Tortiniere. We will obviously be back.

An excellent restaurant in a beautiful chateau-styled domaine. Tasty mushroom soup, foie gras, saddle of lamb, and a great cheese selection from the cart; nice wine list, excellent service. We were staying at Chateau D’Artigny but were looking for another dining experience, and were happy to go the couple of miles on the other side of Montbazon to Domaine de la Tortiniere. Highly recommend!

Fabulous location, we were very excited on arrival but rather disappointed with the somewhat formal and unfriendly greeting from the staff. Our room was beautifully furnished, comfy bed and lovely bed linen but you could hear the people chattering late into the evening in the room next door. We had booked dinner at the hotel and, again, found the staff almost robotic in their service, apart from the main lady in the restaurant who seemed to be rushing around doing most of the work. We found the food rather over fussy & very overpriced. Every dish seemed to have a supplement added to it & if you didnt like mushrooms there wasn’t much else to choose! Shame the staff weren’t as friendly as the very pleasant lady on reception as we checked out. The staff and the costly menu means we probably won’t be going back. Shame, it’s a lovely hotel!

Enjoyed a two night stay in July on a Cycling for Softies visit to the Loire region. Great restaurant and welcoming staff BUT expect the worst rooms in the hotel if you choose this place as part of your itinerary. It’s hard to feel like one is staying in a chateau sleeping in an out house with traffic noise.

Stayed 2 nights on bike tour of the Loire Valley. Food was wonderful and servers were friendly and professional without blinking an eye at my grade 12 French. Hotel staff went out of their way to make us comfortable despite the rainy weather.

We spend 1 night in this hotel as we were touring the area. The grounds was magnificent especially early in the morning when the air was cool and the valleys misty. Good place to relax and recharge. The room was a little small but comfortable and sufficient. The bathroom and toilet were clean and toiletries supplied. Hope we can come again and perhaps spend a little more time

We stopped for lunch en route from Bordeaux to Paris as it was the only decent restaurant in the area that was open on Mondays. We we charmed and delighted--the terrace overlooking the pool is lovely, the service is impeccable and the food was excellent. There are several menus to choose from, including a very reasonable 36 euro menu that includes two glasses of wine. We had a cold cucumber soup with smoked goat cheese, an excellent Challans chicken with polenta, an asparagus starter and a shrimp dish. All were very good and were elegantly served on lovely plates. The only negative about the restaurant is that it is not dog friendly, but they allow you to sit on the terrace at a table towards the edge if you show up (as we did) with a pet. We would go back.

The food is exquisitely prepared and presented. The service was impeccable and helpful. The waiters knowledgeable without being pretentious. We dined outside, the evening being warm and the surroundings pleasant. The wine list was both impressive and sufficiently extensive and of good quality. The bill commensurate with the serving and quality was not at all a surprise. Well done!
