A warm and professional welcome in a tightly run ship here. Top marks for the wide choice of dishes which can all be adapted to be vegan. You’re in for a treat if feeling nostalgic about the 80’s! There’s is a real effort to present...the retro dishes on artisan tableware and the food tastes pretty good too. We would have liked more choice for the wine and some sort of drinks menu but ended up with enjoyable and reasonably priced glasses. We would like to return to see seasonal variations to include risottos or warm salads.More

It’s been several years since our last visit to the Red Lion, when it was under different management. The changeover has been seamless, with the food and creative menu still the same high standard. We booked for an early Friday evening and found the restaurant...already busy. All the obligatory track & trace measures and sanitisers were in place, though we thought the restaurant was very warm and quite stuffy – the calor gas heater didn’t help – with the recommended ventilation non-existent. The one server worked his socks off all evening bringing drinks and food. He was very helpful, attentive and alert to the diners’ needs, so the service, from what we could see, ran smoothly. Substantial starters of baked camembert and the mushroom wellington for mains, meant we didn’t have space for desserts (nor for the Premier Inn breakfast the following morning). A pity the Red Lion is 3.5 hours drive from home; perhaps the proprietors could move to Lincolnshire…More

I am not vegetarian, but the TA reviews and my son & daughter in law’s diet led us to the Veggie Red Lion. I was definitely sceptical but I left being a convert to the idea that good food is good food and doesn’t need...to include meat. The menu is very well designed and very enticing for food lovers. Great combinations and very considered. The mushroom wellington was excellent and all of the plates looked delicious. I urge you to drop meat for a night and try the Red Lion.More

Came here for my birthday, the barman/waiter was extremely friendly on arrival and showed us our seats. Came over immediately to take our drink orders. Drinks and food arrived quickly despite their being around 5/6 tables on only one server so I was even more...impressed. Yummy food and the atmosphere was beautiful. Lots of interesting art work on the walls with a lovely garden.More

After all these years of driving past we finally booked a table for dinner last Saturday night. It was excellent beautiful surrounding, not too busy but a steady stream of people which in these times is good. The choices on the menu were brilliant and...for my vegetarian partner was a delight. We had all three courses and were not disappointed by any. Service was great and friendly and we were not rushed. We will definitely be heading back again.More

Been here before so we knew it was good but this time was even better than last! Service was on point from the get go and the food was delicious. Really chilled vibe. Top points to the server who brought my vegan dessert out but...before putting it down said he thinks that might not be the vegan ice cream, "let me go check". Sure enough he was right! Attention to detail and switched on. Could have been disastrous for an allergy sufferer but no issues here and chuffed with the whole experience. We will be back.More

So pleased to find a vegetarian/vegan restaurant within driving distance. It’s so hard to have an enjoyable vegan/veggie meal in a pub that doesn’t serve the usual one boring choice from the freezer! This pub is in a lovely setting with a pleasant garden and...an imaginative menu. The food was delicious with generous portions and can be adapted for vegans as everything is freshly cooked. The landlord was friendly and attentive. We will certainly make this a regular choice for a meal as there’s something for everyone, even the meat eater in our group was impressed!More

This is my local restaurant and I love it. My husband and I are not veggies but I cannot fault the food or service. I have tried almost everything on the menu and can not fault any of it. My favourite is the burrito and...my husband loves the Mushroom Wellington and the desserts are amazing too if you can fit one in! To this end the best vegetarian by far in the area.More

Hi there Lewis, I'm the manager at the Red Lion. Apologies for the very late response. I never noticed the question until now! We were rated a 3 due to a loose light fitting in the kitchen (fixed), exposed piping due to work... More
