Lemons, more lemon groves, clinging precariously on restricted terraces, a steep drop to the Mediterranean ocean below, as we drove past little townships in the charming Amalfi Coast, following queues of traffic on narrow cliff roads. Time for some lunch, Open Gate beckoned (in Praiano); a picturesque hotel which offered a restaurant; stunning views. I have gait/walking challenges (stroke), all... More

The Open Gate was our best dinner during our time in Praiano. The specialty seafood pasta was amazing. The pizza from the wood-fired oven was equally good. The prosciutto and melon was a meal in itself. Modest wine list but fairly priced. Our table was overlooking the sea. The highway was right beside us which surprisingly was not annoying. It... More

I always check Trip Advisor rating before trying a restaurant and was surprised that this was 25 out of 28. We found this quite by accident as we wanted a place closer to our villa. We had their pasta w/seafood speciality on a Sunday afternoon which was delicious. Also the lemon delight dessert was the best we had found. House... More

We stayed here one night when touring south to Revello. We were very pleased and enjoyed a good tasty dinner, fresh fish of the day. Our room had a comfortable bed and fantastic view from a large balcony. I;m sure the bathroom was new, and we would recommend this family run hotel to any traveller!

Beautiful atmosphere on outside tables, view of the sea. Quaint on the inside. Two liked their spaghetti, one with meat, the other no meat, one loved their spaghetti with meat sauce and one loved their ravioli and grilled peppers. Would eat there again.

My husband and I were staying in an apartment next door to this restaurant,so decided to try it out one night. It was very quiet and looked out onto the busy road, with the sea beyond. It was a bit noisy from the road but we got used to it. We had a pasta starter each and a pizza main pizza... More

I don't want to be too harsh as I can't judge on food as we didn't eat, we stopped for a drink only, but it all seemed a little basic or underwhelming. We did visit during the day, so maybe that's not the time to visit, as it was deathly quiet, no other patrons at all. We sat by the... More

We stayed about 100m from Open Gate at the beautiful B&B La Maurella. There are quite a few local choices in Praiano, but this place surprised us and we ended up eating here twice. Our meals ranged from lasagne, pizza, prawn linguini (excellent) and seafood pasta (delicious with homemade pasta). Service is efficient and very friendly. Pizza's are made fresh... More

We stayed at The Hotel Open Gate and ate at their restaurant on several occasions. The food is delicious...can't fault it (including breakfast)! The seafood pasta which is the speciality of the house is simply divine! The menu consists of a wide variety of typical Italian dishes and all that we tried were perfect, including their home-made pizzas! Lovely setting,... More
