A quick overnight stop in Acqui and saw the listing on TripAdvisor as well as walking past during the day. Receptionist at our hotel kindly reserved a table for us. Located in a beautiful old building near the duomo....we were not sure how it would go as our arrival was met by the chef who seemed to take no prisoners...... More

My husband's Italian nephew discovered this restaurant when he and his girlfriend had dinner here. Since then, we have visited several times over the years, just the two of us for Romantic dinners and impromptu lunches. Our recent visit was for lunch with family visiting us from the UK on holiday. As usual, the food was amazing, the staff helpful... More

My husband and I had lunch at Il Moncalvo today. We selected it because we unknowingly went to Acqui Terme on market day, so parking was a huge problem. We saw a large parking area in the courtyard of the building where the restaurant is located and decided to go in for lunch. We sat on the balcony which overlooks... More

A poor meal, few drinks other than wine But great service. The location is steeped in history and character, but the venues was very hot, no fans. It does have potential.

This is by far the best Italian restaurant for pasta and more. Everything is homemade, especially impressed by the egg noodle (was told they used 30 egg yolk for 1 kg of flour!!!) The taste is just so perfect with all the summer tartufo on top of it, and with a sip of local bubbly Prosecco! The beetroot & blueberry... More

We had lunch here with a part of the family, and came back next day eith the whole bunch because we just loved it. Sitting on the first floor galleria, looking over the quiet courtyard while an angels watches over you is a good place to enjoy lunch or dinner. We enjoyed all the food, from the thin breadsticks, the... More

Start with the food or the setting? The food was excellent; serious but not fussy. Excellent selection of wines and a good one of beers. Thoughtful specials with - what else? - seasonal ingredients. Seafood, truffles, mushrooms, poultry, and beef. The setting? Dusk over the cathedral from the gallery on the courtyard. Wonderfully friendly, attentive staff. Don't over think this!... More

My Italian husband and I (I am French) went to this restaurant yesterday evening (which was highly recommended by a friend of ours) to celebrate our 4th anniversary together. We definitely had a lovely and very nice evening: - Beautiful location (my husband who went to school a long time ago in this building before being renovated and transformed into... More
