We visited this pub for lunch on 15 April and it is my 3rd or 4th visit. On previous visits I have had the misfortune to experience the landlord's bizarre and inappropriate 'sense of humour' when he refused to serve me at the bar until I removed my flatcap ! This time after being seated and whilst ordering the landlord... More

This is the kind of pub it's very rare to find these days - truly the beating heart of the local community and run with great enthusiasm. The food is hearty and sensibly priced; a Sunday roast with lots of veg is under £11. It's an atmospheric place, too, packed with history. A few people have commented unfavourably on the... More

My husband loves meat and I don't, this is always going to be a problem! However at the Horseshoe they cater for us veggies as well. Wonderful meal, loads of vegetables, hot and beautifully presented. As for desserts - well don't get me started.. I was probably a size 12 when I started and probably a size 14/16 now. Yes... More

A really relaxed friendly English pub (free house), with barrels on cradles and lovely home cooked food. We ate a wonderful fish pie and a steak and kidney pie made with suet crust pastry - Not had one like that in years - Yum! Although the game pie was equally tempting. Did not eat in the evening though - very... More

We had a family party for a Christmas lunch for the third year running at the Horseshoe and once again it didn't disappoint. Some members of my family who have been here at least four times before got lost in deepest Wiltshire and arrived an hour late. Tony and the team didn't bat an eyelid and smoothly served the other... Probably found the best place for Sunday lunch around the Salisbury countryside. The Sunday roasts were so tasty, our children really enjoyed them also. The beer/cider choice is ok, hopefully they'll add to their selection by using the fantastic local brewers around Salisbury in the near future. Really looking forward to another visit.

When we recently welcomed new neighbours to our village, it didn't take long to invite them to come to this pub. A half hour drive and, on our arrival, Pat and Tony were their usual congenial hosts, giving us a warm welcome. We sat in the 'conservatory', where we were treated to the usual service, with accustomed humour form both... More

I adore the Horseshoe Inn: the pub has a depth of character that is wonderful to see. Low ceilings, old farming furnishings, lots of dark furniture and presence. The beers on tap are always great, as are the casks of cider. I've had several meals here over the last year or two and every time it has been a great... More

Off to The Horseshoe on my bike I've read the reviews, should I take fright? If I have a pint, and fall fast a-kip Will I awake and find my steed in the skip? Out of the window, I take a quick peek The landlord is truthful, it WAS tongue-in-cheek! How can anyone not realise when someone's simply taking the... More

We were welcomed on arrival and shown to our reservation. We had a good choice of food available from the menu and when it arrived we had a superb variety of vegetables to complement the main course. The food was very tasty and arrived on hot plates. The atmosphere in the bar restaurant was just right and we enjoyed the... More
