This great restaurant has a sign on the door indicating that it is "ferme" in circumstances "exceptionellement" due to the "sante" (health) of the chef. We can only hope and pray for his return to full health. But, in the meantime, phone first if you are contemplating going out of your way to visit Le Belvedere

We have been going here since 1989 with and without the family. The food is always superb and the menus haven't changed much in that time. We invariably have the "terroir" menu which is excellent. M and Mme Pestel have both won serious awards (he for his cooking and she for various aspect of service and training). He bakes his... More

After a morning of touring the French countryside, we started looking for a restaurant and eventually found "Le Belvedere", outside Juillac overlooking the River Dordogne. We were one of the first customers but within half an hour it was full and people were being turned away. We sat outside in the September sun admiring the view and sipping our aperitif... More

This merits a bad mention as it possibly one of the worst food and service experiences I've ever had.***********PLEASE DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE******* We were are booked party of 8 and once shown to our table were left for a full 45 minutes before any wine, bread, or service really was established. My french is pretty good having lived... More

I don't understand the poor reviews for this restaurant...it is lovely. Menus start at 15 e the food is fresh and ingredients seasonal. The local Guinot wine very good too. Service with a smile added to the pleasure.

This was our second visit and was even better than the first! We again went for the set lunch menu, a bargain at 18 euros for three courses! The staff are friendly and attentive, plenty of choice on the menu and the food was just delicious! A great view over the valley and Pessac awaits you, a must try if... More

This place is a gem! Delightfully located overlooking the Dordogne and a classic much-photographed view of the river and Pessac from the outdoor terrace. Classic Perigord cuisine and an extensive yet affordable winelist. We drove past here several times before discovering the delights of this place. Not only "worth a visit" but "worth a detour" as well.

Pros: Excellent views, professional attitude Cons: Only prix fixe menus Having driven past Le Belvedere en route to La Table Rouge on numerous occasions we decided to go there for lunch. We had a table with great views over the valley - possibly the best view of all of the tables - and the proximity to the loos wasn't the... More

While staying at the charming Au Bord de L'eau B&B, we dined at this Exquisite and Truly Gourmet restaurant. The smell of honeysuckle, the singing of frogs and screetch owls, the delicate touch of the attentively detailed service girl set the ambiance for a gourmet meal unsurpassed. Treat yourself...get the menu 44euros. Mi-cuit foi gras; scallops & shrimp in creamy... More

We have been visiting the Belvedere once or twice a year for the past 20 years, and it simply never disappoints. The local food is always well chosen, cooked and presented. The menu is deliciously consistent; the variations are subtle and the feast day specials are extraordinary. As you might expect for a restaurant close to St Emilion, the wine... More
