This place was recommended to us, so thought we'd give it a try. The pub itself was lovely, and the Staff were friendly, but unfortunately, the food did not meet our expectations. As I am a pescetarian. I ordered the scallop starter, which had a very strong pungent fishy smell (which was not very appetising), and it appeared to be undercooked.... More

We had booked online and highlighted that one of our party has a severe food allergy; when we arrived, to a great welcome, roaring log fire and quick service, the staff were fully aware and discussed how they might help. They went to considerable trouble to accommodate this and the service overall was impeccable. We all had great starters (lovely... More

Will be interesting to see what response the management give to this review. They seem to be an extremely defensive bunch but this is a totally honest review. Evening booking for five. Food first: Out of the five starters we ate two or three. The scallops were undercooked and I don't even know what they were prepared in (vinegar I... More

Having only had Sunday lunches at this venue previously we took some friends for a Birthday meal to The Merry Monk. We arrived for our meal a few minutes early, but were seated immediately. We were asked if we would like wine with our meal and given menus. I will say the restaurant was poorly lit, and I had to... More

Booked in for a Sunday Lunch at The Merry Monk. Succulent Medium Rare Roast beef, Yorkshire pud and veg, lovely! A pint of real ale (Broadside) and yummy sticky toffee pudding to finish. A good crew of young, attentive and smiley staff provide a lovely lunchtime. The draft from the window was a bit off-putting, but, apart from that weel... More

Great service once again from all at The Merry Monk. This time for a surprise birthday dinner. Beautiful food, fantastic choice of dishes and wonderful attention to detail to make the evening go smoothly - including having the champagne ready when the birthday girl arrived. A great table near to the bar and very attentive staff made sure that she... More

Nice restaurant for couples or small party. Seating is cozy...I felt a little too close to the couple next to us to have a private conversation. The young staff was attentive and friendly. I ordered the steak, good but medium rare was more like rare. Wife ordered the chicken, very well cooked.

The Merry Monk is a lovely old and cosy pub in Isleham with bags of character. Lunch was for 5 adults and this was our second visit there in the past 12 months. Sunday lunch menu which has a good choice of tasty starters, mains and sweets. We had a selection of the onion tart which was voted excellent, oriental... More

This was the review I was expecting from yesterdays Sunday Luncheon following a very rude customer who thought it was acceptable to be very rude and aggressive to a member of my staff. The Kids! who you described!! they were young children and very polite well behaved young children who were with their family celebrating a family meal and were... More

We saw the Merry Monk advertising a "wok Wednesday" throughout January (£12 for a starter and a main) and decided on a whim to go that night. I'm really glad we did. We sat over by the kitchen and had nibbles of marinated beef before starters of Satay and Mussels then both opted for the chicken stir fry. Everything was... More

Tucked away in the Cambridgeshire fens, The Merry Monk started life as three cottages in the 17th Century and from there became The Red Lion Public House until 1992 when it was renamed The Merry Monk. Roaring log fires for cosiness during the winter months and a garden rounding off a gorgeous country restaurant offer perfection for enjoyment throughout the year. Our focus at the Merry Monk is a casual and inviting atmosphere.
