Visited this restaurant a couple of times already on our holiday. It is located 5 min walk along the beach from our hotel, right on the beach and so great place to watch the sunset. Relaxed and casual vibe, with plenty of different places to sit. Good value drinks during happy hour. I particularly appreciated the ice cold glasses for the beer. Great Thai food, we have had 5 different dishes over the past two evenings and each one has been very tasty. Friendly and relaxed service. Good value - you can pay by credit/debit card here with 3% additional cost but this is still overall reasonable value for this location. If you like Thai food in a relaxing atmosphere then this is a great place..... We will be back here for more great food during our stay.

This is an exceptionally well located restaurant for watching the marvellous sunsets that occur on Koh Samui. It is a rather 'cool' place place with people coming to enjoy 'Happy Hour' and taking advantage of the very reasonably priced cocktails while watching the sunset unfold, and then very often staying on to eat there. The menu is extensive with something for everyone, and again very reasonably priced too. There is a very relaxed ambience helped by the young, friendly and very helpful waiting staff. I would caution about driving there, go early if going by car as there is limited on-site parking and no on-street parking as the road is too narrow and unlit. I rate this as my second choice of venue the watch a good sunset, but highly recommended.

As one of our friends were staying in the cottages ( beach huts) at I-Talay we all found this to be the best meet up place for drinks and food as was reasonably priced and the atmosphere was very good . The staff were friendly and because we became regulars we had a good laugh with them as well and one staff member knew our first drinks order automatically . The added bonus is happy hour whilst the sun set .

The food is too local to our liking. Ordered fish curry, fried rice, deep fried fish and a stir-fried vegetable. But compliments to the “originality” of the restaurant. Lots recycle stuff - for example, oil drum converted to seats. If you like classic and no fuss dine out. This might be your place!

Our friends took us here on a Saturday evening. They chose a variety of dishes which were all very tasty. We had a a steamed white snapper that was delicious. Our friends chose a spicy chicken curry, a vegetable omelet and various other tasty dishes. I chose a pancake for desert which was more like a sponge cake when it came. I shared it with Wyn as it was too big for me. Unfortunately they forgot her crepe suzette and then said the kitchen was now closed. All interesting Thai behaviour.

Kao Pa Na Lay has to be THE most stunning spot to watch the Sunset on Samui, locations around Chaweng, Maenam, Bo Phut and Lamai have the view of the sunset obscured by the mountains in the centre of the island but in Taling Ngam it’s nothing but clear views of the horizon with Five Islands and Ang Thong National Park in clear view. Kao Pa Na Lay is located on the far side of the Island, far from the busier, touristy areas and is therefore extremely peaceful and located in a very natural and unspoiled part of the Island. As well as being a Bar & Restaurant, there are also Holiday Chalets available to rent, facing directly onto the white, sandy beach. At the time of writing this review, Kao Pa Na Lay have introduced SUP Boards and Kayak rentals and are planning a local Market in the grounds too, however it is still in the progress of being set up so I have no details of when it will be open. We have been coming here for a few years now and have grown to love it, the food is great and extremely diverse with a great selection of both Thai and International dishes, the drinks are great value and there is happy hour from 16:30 to 18:30. Sitting in the shade on this simply stunning tropical beach will always be one of my personal favourite places to be anywhere in the world. If you come to Samui be sure to visit Kao Pa Na Lay early in your trip as I’m sure you will want to make time to visit more than once.

Relaxing atmosphere, friendly and attentive waiters, and a huge menu for you to choose from your dream dinner :-) Magnificent views over the sea and sunset. Perfect dinner point in the calm surroundings. The only downside is that it’s maybe a bit pricey, but if you stay nearby, you don’t have too much options, and this one is definitely one of the cheapest choices.

Having lived in Koh Samui for many years and know this island like the back of my hand, this is a must visit if you are on Samui, this is not your usual 5 star BS, I've done all that ane been very disappointed. This is a beach restaurant that sells good food, good cocktails, good staff, in a great location. If you like 5 star, don't come here, if you like a great day to relax and enjoy the real Koh Samui, then this is the place... Chok dee

Really love this Place . Nice Seaview with great food. Cheap price. Owner is so sevice mind and really sincere. Very close to Intercontinental Hotel Samui, walking distance but you can tell the hotel to call the restaurant for round trip service to the restaurant. Free of charge.

Stayed here for a break from the busy tourist scene and it was perfect. Room was 10 metres from the beautiful ocean which you can spend the entire day relaxing on sunbeds or under some.of the bamboo huts. Paddle board rentals are cheap and on site masseuse. If you're looking to see the island make sure you have transport as it's very remote but perfect for a quiet getaway. Staff were very friendly and the food and drink are very cheap.

We visited here based on the top feedback on TripAdvisor. We love anything authentic and were therefore keen to try it out. We were told earlier in the day that kitchen closed at 8. We arrived 730 and were immediately reminded of this - no problem. For some reason from the start we didn’t feel the usual Thai warmth you get almost everywhere else. The environment was perfectly pleasant / rustic by the beach, decent size table and chairs for four, another three tables occupied. We were asked to order quickly. Whilst taking out order the waiter did the largest burp I’ve heard in a long time. Took us by surprise a little, you can imagine my two girls laughed uncontrollably. Put me off a bit to be honest but we carried on and ordered (he didn’t react). Then dish by dish the food arrived, completely out of sync. Two plates of rice follows by plate of chips. Eventually then a massaman, a bolognese then my red curry then pizza (for the girls). Perhaps I made the mistake of wanting to go authentic by ordering from the ‘local food’ section of the menu, but my red curry (pork boar) was inedible. The meat was awful. Just fat, chopped up pieces of pork fat, just like eating raw pork rind, really hard gristle . There was no red curry sauce and very little else to eat. Positively the massaman was good, home made pizza reasonable and the bolognese bland and underwhelming. We had barely finished and they were cleaning plates away and waiter came and told me the kitchen was closed which is fine. Very shortly after wards he came with the bill saying restaurant was closed (like 5 mins or so). I was a bit taken aback so I told him the red curry boar was ‘very bad’. I’d eaten none of it (photo attached). Nothing was said. He took the cash and did not remove that item from the bill. Overall the customer service was a real let down and due to the bad experience and awful food, I’d recommend not going. There are other places you can go for a beautiful sunset and drink such as Thong Krut beach where we went earlier today. Unspoiled, authentic and superb service. Sorry but this honest opinion.don’t order anything off local menu!! Unless you know what you’re getting!

Fun restaurant on the beach with a good sized menu and tasty food, the fresh fish is delicious, they also have a monthly local market which is worth a visit. On site is Noi Massage, don't be put off by the rustic facilities the massage was great and a tenth of what you pay at a hotel and you get to ly there listening to the waves on the beach - lovely.

We were staying at the Intercontinental a 5 minute walk for I-Talay and found it by chance when we arrived and went for a walk to discover the area. I can't speak highly enough about this place. The food, the vision they have for trying to help local people with jobs and their idealism to environmentalism and how they recycle and use things washed up on the beach and encourage locals to drop off their recyclables like plastic bottles for them to use. You will see what I mean from the images I have attached. Firstly the food and drink here at just the best. I have lived in Thailand and love Thai food, and this place produces the best. Bang, who is the nephew of the owner studied at chef school in Bangkok for 7 years and runs I-Talay for his uncle who has helped him through university. The food they produce in the kitchen is superb. As I mentioned we were staying at the Intercontinental and the food served here was as good if not even better, seriously no joke. When we first tried I ordered a coconut milk shake. Wow this tasted amazing, not a milk shake as you might think it should be made. In the end we ate here every day either for lunch or dinner or even both. You can sit by the beach or inside but all is undercover. We were joined by some locals of the fury kind as you will see. All good no problems with this. Big FYI I did get bitten to death by mosquitoes but they has a replant for you to use. Decor, wow what an eclectic mix of design. The furnishing are a mix of recycled materials such as oil cans for seats, plastic bottle roof. They have a real sense of the environment driven by Bangs uncle and his vision with which Bang totally buys into. When we were there people were dropping off more plastic bottles and when his engineering guy was putting together a gate he was making from things he had found, he went to the beach and collected more material he could use. AWESOME. They have a giant gorilla they have made from recycled material. An organic garden where they grow their own herbs and produce that Bang was happy to show us around. It was brilliant. I always said I didn't go to Thailand to eat western food however Bang was so keen to show off his talent for making Italian food we wanted me to try something he has been perfecting for years, that was his Neapolitan pizza. He had made the fresh dough and had let it prove. He went to his herb garden and picked the basil and went to the kitchen. When he came back the pizza looked amazing and tasted as good as it look. From the mozzarella nicely melt and the fresh herbs, the dough base was cooked to perfection. Overall the pizza was amazing. Wow pizza in Thailand, who would have thought... There menu is extensive and understand this its ALL freshly made regardless of what you order. We spoke local people about his place and all rated the food. No matter what you order I guarantee you wont be disappointed. The staff. Well they are just awesome. From the people in the kitchen to Bang and his help on the customer side of the business. By the end of our holiday they were friends. See pics. They are so accommodating to what ever you need and Bang speaks good English too. We did try our thai out as well too. If you find yourself this end of the island, I urge you to go and try. No matter what you odder you wont be disappoint, the drinks are just as good. And just another bonus it obviously a lot less expensive than eating in the hotel .

Very nice place to comfortably eat something delicious and relax. Too bad there is not enough time for us to visit this paradisiacal place again at sunset. However, we will certainly catch up once again.
