I always go to The Duke with friends before a visit to Richmond Theatre. There is a good lunch menu and a 'pre-theatre' menu in the evening. Reasonable prices and a casual, relaxing atmosphere. Wonderful freshly baked bread to go with oil, balsamic and olives as well as a delicious homemade tomato soup are excellent starters.

Overall great place. However, when the asparagus from your starters arrives in your piss before the mains, might want to review procedures. Great meal, would repeat.

Dropped in to this spot for post Curry beers midweek with. Nice mixed crowd...even had a bunch of 'theatre lovers' dressed in Edwardian garb...how very Richmond. Purity Brewery IPA on Tap. I would recommend it. Roomy and clean spot, handy staff.

Very good for pre theatre being a few minutes to richmond theatre. We had a good meal but they were really busy and it stretched them. The set menu choices this time were poor/unappealing but on other visits have been very good.

We booked for a party of 10. Then another table of 8. We were doing our best to make life difficult. A little confusion over pre-ordering. Then arriving all at different times. I must say the young team were a master class in dealing with everything we could ask. The ordering was easy. The food came out in a timely manner... More

We ate upstairs at The Duke and I can see why The Duke is so popular for weekend lunches. The food was decent quality; tasty and well presented. The service was efficient and the other tables were mercifully free of noisy children. If we find ourselves back in Richmond on a weekend lunchtime we might well return to The Duke.

We have been going here for Sunday lunch for the last 3 to 4 years. Without question the pub has become increasingly VERY young family orientated on a Sunday - this is fine if the children are kept under control and comforted when crying but this is not always the case. The Duke employs generally good attentive and friendly staff,... More
