I heard lovely reviews for this bakery from people at the eisteddfod so i went in and bought bread rolls and cakes for my kids, we were all impressed! The bread rolls are soo soft and fluffy and really yummy!!
Me and Hubby purchased a snack from here on a recent Wednesday. The bakery was founded by Mr. Henry Skillicorn in the late 1800's. The metal Hovis sign on the wall outside was installed in the early 1900's. Three of Henry's sons were killed in...the 2nd World War. Their names are engraved on the War Memorial on the opposite side of the road.
The Griffiths family took over the business in the early 1970's. I believe they still use Hovis flour and bake their products in a 100 year old oven. They sell breads, pies, cakes and fancies. We bought a couple of small custard tarts which cost £1.90 which tasted OK but we thought they were a tad over-priced.More
On our travels again in my homeland.
I will only eat Welsh cakes in Wales.
Not had a Welsh cake for 8 months, so disappointed still no Welsh cake in my tummy.
Bought a loaf of bread which was okay and two Eccles cakes which...were tasty.
Clean shop and friendly staff.More
Excellent range of pastries and cakes, all freshly baked. Particularly recommend the bacon roll, nice soft bread, plenty of bacon and piping hot. Also the complete breakfast bap is good too. Lovely iced custard slices. Usually able to park right outside.
Scilicorns is the place to buy cakes, pies, bread etc. All freshly made, great value and great tastes. If you require a birthday or occasions cake this is the place to buy, yum and made to your specifications.
The pies are full no half measures...and cakes are to die for, no prepacked supermarket rubbish here.
Go on endulge your self.More
We loved this place, great substantial cob loaves, we always ended up with the assistants laughing at us because we struggled to decide what we wanted. Made sure we stopped here on our trip home to buy supplies for our journey, chicken tikka slice was...great, thumbs up too for the sponges, really light and jam squares, super crumbly. Can't wait to find ourselves near by to stock up....More
